What's the deal with all those spy shows cropping up all over in recent years?

I know this sounds like the beginning of a stand-up routine but seriously, am I wrong in thinking there is a... proliferation?

I think the spy / espionage genre is likely one that never goes out of fashion, however, it’s been mostly cinema than TV.

I’m not dismissing 24 or Mission Impossible or The Americans or Spooks etc, however, I don’t think it’s been as popular on TV as James Bond, Jason Bourne, Munich, Argo etc have been.

But my questions was, is there more of it now than before? Is it some zeitgeisty thing? It feels like they are making more spy shows now for some reason. With fewer police procedurals and medical and legal shows.

They probably are making more… I likely think they want more room for characters to develop.

Yellowstone is great but Beth continues to be a truly repulsive cunt. I'm sure Taylor Sheridan thinks he's created a strong female lead (tart with a heart) that the viewers love and laugh along to her cuntish behaviour but I certainly don't, ginger slag. Rip you can do better lad.

Another thing that annoyed me was Taylor Sheridan's pure ego trip in that episode, Travis was always a decent side character but that was some blatant self-aggrandizing bullshit, that wasn't in keeping with the overall vibe of the show. Made himself look like a right bellend.

I reckon it’s a sign of Russia getting back to business of being enemy number one. During the post cold-war years things were primarily hunky dory for a while, apart from a little Islamic terrorism, which is a bit more difficult to write about.

Now writers have a fun bad guy they’re back to writing about spies.

I agree. She(the actress) has also had those stupid botox injections in her lips between series.

Theres a scene in a bar where an absolute workday goes over to Rip and he points at Beth and says “that’s my wife over there” or girlfriend whatever. Needless to say Beth ends up bottling her. I know which one I’d have left with and it wouldn’t have been Beth. You wouldn’t be able to sleep incase she woke up and put a blade next to your balls

I think the female Governor (ex wife of Frank Grillo in real life,Wendy Muniz) is a MILF.

Lioness S2 - 7.5/10. Another Taylor Sheridan vehicle for you to froth at the mouth over. Much of it seemed like a tv series set in the SSU (Sheridan Sicario Universe). Odd resolution to what appeared to be the main plot line and the other strand seems to materialise out of nowhere. I’m assuming episode 8 was the finale.

Somebody Somewhere. I think it’s 3 or 4 years old now and season 3 just started but it’s new to me. Woman goes back to the small town she hated growing up in as her sister is dying. Comedy drama and both very funny and erm dramatic. 8/10 midway through the second series.
