Tulsa King

Finished the episode where Tyson repels the hit on him and manages to get away, liking the 2nd series more, better story and has that edge to it. Something seemed off with the first going tooth and nail with a biker gang. Now it feels more like an intense battle of words and sending messages to see who controls what territory.

3 episodes into the Day Of The Jackal. Very enjoyable nonsense so far. Glamorous locations. Some enjoyable set pieces. Not exactly ground breaking but very entertaining. Bit reminiscent of James Bond films with MI6 and all that. Fuck all to do with the original film though ( I haven’t read the book).

Dunno if it classes as TV or film, but I watch the documentary on netflix Return of the King: the fall and rise of Elvis

It pretty much documents him from the start through being shite in the movies, building up to the 68 special. I really enjoyed it. I don't know lots about Elvis - I've listened to some music, seen the film from a couple of years back and been to Gracelands. So while I knew this story a bit, I didn't know it well. It deffo makes me want to know more of his story. 8/10.

Tracker - 6/10. Based on a character created by Jeffrey Dever for three of his books - Colter Shaw. Brought up by Uni Professor parents who took the kids to live off the grid - a bit like smart survivalists meet the Unibomber vibes. Shaw is a “rewardist’ who uses his skills to find missing people and collect the reward. It’s okay, but probably could be a lot better. There’s the underlying plot of why his deceased dad had been doing work for the gov’t, why he took the family off grid, and who murdered him. Little in the way of answers and we’re midway through season two. The one refreshing thing is that he always takes the reward money, even when they clearly can’t afford it. Kudos for that.

The bastard has an awesome airstream trailer he lives out of that I envy enormously.

I see that constantly advertised during NFL and College football games on CBS. It looks like a pure generic CBS procedural drama.

It is. It could be so much better. Damn, I want that airstream trailer though.

boy bands forever.

surprisingly decent doc on how the industry chewed and spat out boy bands throughout the 90's
Simon cowell shockingly comes over as a monumental cunt. His "if you cant hack it,go and be an accountant" quote is particularly illuminating in light of the suicide of liam payne

there is also a journalist from the notw who you would would cheerfully fire into the sun

7/10

That journalist was the very definition of wanker. Just took such pride in destroying people. The line of Prime Ministers going to him on bended knee etc.....

Apart from listening to his music, watching a film about him and going to his house on the other side of the planet I barely know the guy!

Landmark.

Taylor Sheridan does it again. Gritty drama about the Texas oil industry starring the always great Billy Bob Thornton.

Very good start, 8/10. Top marks for the girl playing his 17yo daughter, jeezus!

*I checked and she's actually 27 in real life so I'm guilt free.

Landman is off to a flying start, yeah. Really good opening scene too.
