Cracking pair but when the kids watched her in Jessie on Disney it's hard to crack one out

Watched the pilot of 30 Coins yesterday, a Spanish, HBO Europe production. It looks as though it could be batshit crazy but it's got this fox, Megan Montaner in one of the lead roles. Will be watching a few more for sure.

Watching The Godfather of Harlem, the first episode was great although I could've done without the modern music, which just seemed out of place given it is set in 1963.

Episodes two & three have been going downhill fast, it seems very heavy handed at times & just shit at others. Does it pick up again or drift into bollocks? I'll need to pay a fiver to watch it all.

General consensus on here was that most people seemed to love it.

I got really bored with it though, just seemed to plod along and felt very dull to me. Was expecting a lot more with the cast it has, the only bits I found really engaging were with Malcolm X.

I think I'll be the same. I know most people love all these big budget TV programmes, but most of them the story would be better served in a 2hr film rather than padding it out with shite for 50 episodes or whatever.

I'll spend the fiver on a book instead.

Which is better, The Shield or The Wire?

Both a bit overrated on here and elsewhere, but both very good. I probably enjoy The Shield a bit more but there’s some things The Wire is probably better at. I’d take The Sopranos, The West Wing, and Six Feet Under over those anyway. Probably some others too.

Good question. The shield starts weaker and gets stronger. The wire starts stronger and gets weaker. I'd probably pick the shield for the fact it gets better and better.

Night Stalker: The hunt for a serial killer.

New Netflix documentary, this time about Richard Ramirez and his killing spree in 80's Los Angeles. Two episodes in and it's good. Gotta say, I love a good serial killer doco.

8/10

Did anyone see that fig wasp with the telescopic langer (that was twice the size of its body), on A Perfect Planet? Not only that but impregnated all of it's sisters as well.

I've just finished The Wire and agree that it's a bit overrated. Still really enjoyable though.

Watched The Sopranos. Started the other 2 but they both bored me rigid I'm afraid.

I thought The Wire was pretty consistent. Perhaps season 2 wasn't quite as good as the others but I thought the show still had some legs and it was ended prematurely, there  were defo another couple of seasons waiting to get out.

I tried that Six Feet Under; what a load of balls.

It's an acquired taste. I disliked every character in it apart from Keith, who was sound.

Six Feet Under is great. Best ending of anything, ever.

Edit: Nope, still can't watch it without tears.

Yeah it does have a really good ending, one of TV's better ones.

I was just sat there thinking WTF? And not in a good way.

Was a few years ago like so might give it another go at some point.

The Serpent is a good show, nicely made, occasionally gripping and well acted.

8/10.

It also has Jemma Coleman in it, looking sexy in her 70’s outfits and sounding whatever the next level up from sexy is with her French accent.

147/10.

    • Are Chelsea likely to start with Giroud? Probably best to stick with Phillips if so, their pace in other places will trouble us but at least Phillips can header the ball. Kabaks 50p head is giving me Skrtel flashbacks.
    • None of this is any of the players fault.   It is all down to poor decision making, not considering properly how short having just 3 senior centre halves when 1 is made of paper and another has a pretty ropey fitness record left us - and then the laughable reaction to what became a full on crisis when all 3 were fucked.
    • I agree, but it won’t happen that way. I’m absolutely sure it won’t.   the fundamental problem with this is replicated elsewhere in society these days, and it’s that we now want accountability for all things and no allowance of a mistake - unless you’re the prime minister when no accountability is required at all.   in our search to eradicate the relatively small number of egregious mistakes made by officials we’ve got this answer where just as many mistakes are happening, only they’re now happening over tiny things that nobody used to be arsed about, while still having occasional egregious mistakes like that maguire non-penalty in Daves roundup go unpunished and the mess with Mason’s free kick etc.   Id have no issue at all with all goals being subject to review for an obvious offside, and a VAR there for bad challenges that are missed and nothing else - not even  a challenge system - just a non invasive use of an extra pair of video aided eyes to get rid of howlers.   if - like sterling vs city which we come back to often - a flag was wrongly raised and it’s obvious on second viewing, overturn it. If the opposite is clearly the case, disallow an incorrectly awarded goal.   beyond that, keep your gob shut, leave your etch a sketch in its box and get on with the fucking game.
