I've watched the 1st 4 of these on the train home today. It was pretty watchable. Good light TV. I think I was expecting it to be funnier because Steve Martin has written it as well as one of the lead roles,

So did I, really enjoyed it too.

Straddled just the right line when it could easily have descended into a complete farce.

Enjoying the mystery element and the leading 3 seem to bounce off each other nicely.

Will definitely watch a few more (at least).

She's had The Undoing on tonight on Sky Atlantic. Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant and Donald Sutherland. A murder thriller. It's actually pretty decent, on episode 5 now. I missed the first episode but according to my missus you get a full frontal of this woman before she gets murdered. Probably one for flesh of the stars.

I need to start something new.

I think my next projects will be Mindhunter, or Boardwalk Empire, or Sons of Anarchy, or The Shield, or The OA.

Just can't stomach political dramas now, I don't find the subject appropriate to joke or dramatise about now, I get angry at them.  So that rules out the West Wing, Veep, and that Kev Spacey one.

My fave series' to date, in no order, have been:

Battlestar Galactica

The Sopranos

Breaking Bad

Mr Robot

Dexter

Narcos

Game of Thrones

Peaky Blinders

Band of Brothers

The Pacific

Other series I've enjoyed for quite a while but ducked out of as I lost interest:

Handmaids Tale

Westworld

The Walking Dead

I was going to suggest that the shield is the best option there and say that veep and the west wing are just set in the political world and not really what you'd call a political drama, certainly not veep. But then you meh'd at Mr Inbetween and were dismissive of the wire so I dunno, go watch desperate housewives or something

Of the first few you mentioned I would suggest The Shield or Mindhunter, The OA makes me fume like an Evertonian at a wedding when ynwa comes on, I hated that show so much.

I completely agree iro The OA. I don't think I have ever seen anything so fucking terrible, lazy and as outrageously insulting as "the finale" to series 1. I came within a hair's breadth of booting my telly screen to smithereens.

A Killing in Tiger Bay....Brilliant but harrowing three part documentary about the true story of 5 black individuals who became known as the Cardiff 5 who's lives are destroyed when they suffer a huge miscarriage of justice when convicted of the brutal murder of Lynette White in 1988...I say miscarriage of justice but it was more five individuals being stitched up by the South Wales police due to the colour of their skin.

Needless to say when it comes to the officers who committed this act of "perverted" justice we all know too well how it pans out.

Mindhunter's the pick of the ones you've listed, the problem is that I think it's now been cancelled, so there won't be any resolution to the ongoing storyline. I didn't even bother with The OA for the same reason, and gave up on Travelers after the first series once I realised that had been cancelled too.

I don't expect series to carry on forever like Supernatural or something, but some sort of resolution to the overarching plot threads before they get canned would be nice.

Anyway, you can't go wrong with The Shield. If you want something light that you can dip in and out of without making a commitment, both Modern Family and Community are good fun, and the 20-25 minute episodes are perfect length for filling in time.

Mindhunter is brilliant.

Sons of Anarchy is 7 seasons of lunacy. It's brilliant, ignore the haters. You've got a biker gang mixed up with chinese gangsters, the IRA, porn-stars (no shortage of tits), mexican drug dealers, the feds, the local police, the aryan brotherhood and black gangsters. What more do you want?
