Time was very good. Afterwards I did a mental check list of all the things I do/have done that could have got me a prison sentence and resolved to stop doing them.

Did murdering old ladies and throwing them down a manhole make the list?

Saw Jimmy McGovern in The Hanover in town in about 1997, not long after his Hillsborough drama had aired. Anyway, i'm absolutely destroyed and i go up to where he is sitting (in the raised bit by the dart board) and slur "Ah Jimmy, mate, thank you so much for getting the truth out there finally, brilliant writing as usual. Class, fella". He gets up and shakes my hand and says "thanks mate, that means a lot"  and i feel myself welling up so i back away thanking him again. I have forgotten that there is a bit of a drop and go absolutely flying down the steps and into a (luckily unoccupied) table full of half empty glasses, which go everywhere. Fair play to the man he comes over to help me up. He is deffo smirking to himself though, and i can't blame him. My mates are on the floor laughing too.  I leave.

Thought Time was really good. Still don’t ever want to go to prison though.

I agree on both points,

The fact that even after 3 days since I finished watching, I am still thinking about the characters, situations and where they may be in two years shows how good it actually is.

The scouse lad who got burnt seemed a likeable lad, but then it showed ho he was unstable and capable of being a fuckin dangerous loonball when he was on phone losing his shit.

Met up with my mates for our usual moan (covid compliant garden location) this week and was recommended this. One of my mates recently left the prison service and hadn't watched it, so he's going to tell us next week what he thinks. He's the butt of all my 'porridge' references whenever he mentions anything prison related.

One thing he did mention though was that everyone pretty much behaved when prison officers were around, much like everyone in front of my car did under the speed limit.

I sat down to watch episode one yesterday and it certainly is uncomfortable viewing so far, looking forward to the other two episodes.

Orphan Black- anybody seen this and can recommend it? I spent half an hour looking for something last night and ended up watching meme compilations on Youtube... Orphan Black popped up at the top of my Netflix home page earlier and the first two episodes have been OK- does it stay that way?

I couldn't get into it.

Bum, I've loved some of your recommendations before now too.

I'm struggling myself now. Have you watched Black Sails? I watched that all a few months back, kept me busy for a while. It's on Prime though I think.

I haven't, no. I've got Prime, but Black Sails is on that fucking Starzplay thing which I've already had a free trial for.

I'll give Orphan Black a couple more episodes and if it doesn't stick, maybe try Ripper Street again. The first time I watched that, I dozed off and dreamed they were making a porno with the Elephant Man. Apparently he appears later in the series, which I'm not keen on.

I watched Shane Meadows' The Virtues again yesterday, blasting through all 4 episodes back to back.

Even better than the 1st time and even better than Time imo. Outstanding acting start to finish.

10/10

Ooh, now there's a shout. I only saw the first episode of that when it first came out and got side tracked onto something else.

To be fair the scouse lads played their roles very well especially "rat" lad , one scary prick him he was like that in the Rhys series as well. I bet he's sound in real life, just grown up around 'rats' like him. It was fucking superb and a really bad set of programmes for the prison tourist board.

Still haven't watched any of it past that scene in the bar. Left me in pieces that. Stephen Graham is one of the best british actors of all time. He managed to steal the show in The Irishman with Pacino, De Niro, Pesci and Keitel.

The descent into oblivion when he relapses in that boozer on his own is a great scene. Incredibly realistic.

Yeah, that's where I got to as well. Astonishingly well acted and directed scene, and incredibly relatable.

Justified is on More4 as well, one of my favourite ever shows.

I really struggled to finish Justified, 7 seasons and it really sagged in the middle.

Soldiered on, pleased I did. Dewey Crowe should have got his mate Ray Shoesmith in on the action.

I struggled in Season 1 with the crime of the week stuff but once it got going with the overall arc I loved every minute of it.

I've just watched episode 1 of Time myself, really good stuff with excellent acting throughout.

I fucking detest that scouser who's bullying Sean Bean, I'm hoping Bean pulls a Ray Shoesmith and napalms the cunt.

I can't watch anything with Bean in, can't stand him. I wish the bullying was real.
