Watching The Godfather of Harlem, the first episode was great although I could've done without the modern music, which just seemed out of place given it is set in 1963.

Episodes two & three have been going downhill fast, it seems very heavy handed at times & just shit at others. Does it pick up again or drift into bollocks? I'll need to pay a fiver to watch it all.

General consensus on here was that most people seemed to love it.

I got really bored with it though, just seemed to plod along and felt very dull to me. Was expecting a lot more with the cast it has, the only bits I found really engaging were with Malcolm X.

I think I'll be the same. I know most people love all these big budget TV programmes, but most of them the story would be better served in a 2hr film rather than padding it out with shite for 50 episodes or whatever.

I'll spend the fiver on a book instead.

Which is better, The Shield or The Wire?

Both a bit overrated on here and elsewhere, but both very good. I probably enjoy The Shield a bit more but there’s some things The Wire is probably better at. I’d take The Sopranos, The West Wing, and Six Feet Under over those anyway. Probably some others too.

Good question. The shield starts weaker and gets stronger. The wire starts stronger and gets weaker. I'd probably pick the shield for the fact it gets better and better.

I've just finished The Wire and agree that it's a bit overrated. Still really enjoyable though.

Watched The Sopranos. Started the other 2 but they both bored me rigid I'm afraid.

I thought The Wire was pretty consistent. Perhaps season 2 wasn't quite as good as the others but I thought the show still had some legs and it was ended prematurely, there  were defo another couple of seasons waiting to get out.

The Serpent is a good show, nicely made, occasionally gripping and well acted.

8/10.

It also has Jemma Coleman in it, looking sexy in her 70’s outfits and sounding whatever the next level up from sexy is with her French accent.

147/10.

Is Hap And Leonard worth watching?

It took me a little while to warm to it as someone who had read the books first, but it felt like it was just starting to settle and get into it's stride when it was cancelled.

The Wire pisses all over The Shield.

Anyone who says otherwise touches children in bad places.

As opposed to the people who say the Shield is better who touch children in good places?
