The wire and the sopranos are the top two,  everything else is a league below. I'd rate the shield below breaking bad but still excellent

I assume we're leaving Narcos out just as we left The Beatles out of the band tourney?

I think I made it through the first series and can't really remember much about it other than I got bored. Did it get any better?

It plods along at roughly the same pace for a season and a half or two and eventually jumps the shark with some musical numbers.

About to give Truth Seekers a go. Anyone watched it yet?

Lovecraft Country - 8/10. Racism, homophobia and the idea of family explored through a mix of Lovecraftian pulp horror and 50s sci-fi. Can be jarring in tone and doesn’t always succeed, but has some great episodes and at times makes you realise how terrible the racism can be. Also made me read up on the horrific events in Tulsa in 1921 which I knew nothing about. The standout horror element for me was the curse in Episode 8. Won’t spoil it by telling you how it manifests but it is creepy as fuck.

Finally finished the first three series of Babylon Berlin.

It gets a bit silly occasionally, one or two over coincidences, and I could live without the dodgy psychiatrist storyline. Still very watchable, murder, porn, politics, Nazis, commies, what more do you need?

Also Charlotte is absolutely tremendous.

Probably give it 7.7/10

Still freaks my nut out that I didn’t know the girl who plays Eleven in Stranger Things and the lad who plays Franklin in Snowfall are both English. Genuinely had no idea.

Finished The Shield a few days ago. Glad to see the back of it to be honest. It got pretty samey towards the end but I guess they boxed it off nicely. It’s definitely not worthy of the esteem it’s held in by some people. I’ve heard it described as one rung below the likes of Sopranos, Breaking Bad, etc but I’m not having that.

Recently I saw one of the cast of stranger things in an episode of Vera! He was English too, Wills older brother in the show.

I did actually know that, but only because I vaguely recognised her and looked up her name after the credits.

Sadly, the actress who played Dawn is one of the aunts in that rubbish Sabrina thing. She's run to fat.

Costume in my Closet: Hilda Spellman from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina - Spooky Little Halloween

Isnt that Jasper Carrots daughter?

I watched about 10 minutes of Truthseekers last night and switched off.

Thinking more about it I realise I'm not a fan of the Pegg/Frost collaborations, SotD was okay but that's it.

Spaced is brilliant. I couldn’t deal with the start of that Truthseekers either. Switched it off with the intention of going back. Probably won’t.

I've not seen the second series yet.

Looking at IMDB, the fourth series is out at the end of the year. Going off the ratings, it looks like the second series was much better. I'd give it another whirl, but I've got too much else to watch right now.

In fairness the country does seem to posses an ample supply of horrible hateful middle aged women at the moment, Malone, that Hartley stupid name Brewer woman, Hopkins,  Melanie Phillips who belongs to the devil plus a few others, our tv stations are more than willing to give these loons a platform.

Forget about this loon, shes on the tv now talking absolutely tosh,

It's hard to know where to start with the message below,

Started a new one on Netflix, The Queens Gambit.

It’s about an orphaned female chess prodigy with an addiction to tranquillisers. Set in the 1960’s it’s beautifully made and well acted.

Gave it a go as it’s getting good reviews and I’m in agreement with the general positivity around it. Two episodes in (seven in all) and it’s very enjoyable.

Might not be to the taste of all on this thread but a solid 8/10 for me so far.

I've never understood the fuss about the wire. There were some.good moments, but I spent the whole time watching it wondering what all the fuss was about.

That's roughly what I thought about it, never bothered beyond season 1.

First 3 seasons of the wire were great, the whole murderer with ribbons was dogshit but moments of great dialogue and good performances throughout the entirety. Its all personal preference for me the sopranos stands alone at the top for the TV series that I have watched. I honestly think Game of thrones could of pushed it as being up the top for great TV but that turned to shit quicker than a home cooked meal at Dennis Nilsens house.

Long Hot Summers: The Story of The Style Council. This was absolutely brilliant. A proper in-depth look at Weller’s best and most interesting work (save it, haters; I can’t be arsed) with contributions from

pretty much everyone with a relevant perspective. And the treat of an ending with the four of them performing It’s A Very Deep Sea once again was absolutely incredible. What a song, what a band! 11/10.

Yeah it was great, at the time Weller left the Jam and started the style council I was lucky enough to be seeing a girl who looked just liked DC Lee and I still see her out and about now and then, I watched the last song last night and its uncanny how shes also aged like her. Back to topic, it was a good programme I enjoyed it, never understood the Style Council haters, I mustve played Cafe Bleu to death.

I used to play this song off it when I had a hangover, so it got played a lot.
