Criminal: UK series 2- 8.5/10

The first series of this was just about adequate, with the only stand out episode being the first with David Tennent. There were three others set in Spain, Germany and France, but the Spanish one was so crap I didn't bother with the others.

The second series of the UK one though is a quantum leap in quality compared to the first, particularly the second episode with Kit Harrington as an accused rapist and the third with a great performance by Sharon Horgan as a self-righteous paedophile hunter. Well worth a watch.

I remember watching the foreign ones and thinking they were largely better than the UK ones.

It wouldn't have been that difficult, to be fair. I watched some boring Spanish episode, then some bollocks about a dog or something and gave up.

The new UK series is leagues ahead of the first one though. Not sure if they're also doing Spain, Germany and France follow ups, but if they are, I hope they're as good quality as the new UK one.

Is it worth just skipping to season 2 then?

Des - 8/10

Much better than I expected. David Tennant is excellent and Danny Mays is very good as usual. One of the best dramas I've seen on ITV for a good while.

I agree. Tennant and Mays are excellent in it but so is Jason Watkins. His portrayal of Christopher Jefferies was brilliant, too. He briefly played a yuppie in Eastenders back in the 80s and tried to bed Angie Watts.

I don't remember seeing him in anything until about 3 weeks ago in the drama about the professor who got destroyed by the press for killing his tennant (Christopher Jeffries). Since then seen him in Line of duty and then Des, brilliant in all of them.

Not a new one but I’ve been watching Eastbound and Down on Sky Comedy recently. There are four seasons and I’ve just completed the first of them.

It focuses on a washed up former Major League Baseball star returning to his home town and trying to adjust to some kind of normal life. Stars Danny McBride who would go on to be in Vice Principles which I also enjoyed but, in my humble opinion, this is better.

Some really funny moments combined with a sprinkling of pathos. If you’re into this kind of thing, the actress playing his former high school sweetheart and object of his affections has excellent breasts.

As I said, it’s not a new show but, if you haven’t seen it then I definitely recommend.

8/10.

I love eastdown. Season 2 is the best I think.

Been rewatching Misfits, only watched Season 1 but I'd forgotten how brilliant it was early doors. Nathan is one of the funniest TV characters ever. Great soundtrack as well.

That's definitely worth watching? I did watch a bit of the first episode over the weekend, then got sidetracked by Homeland, which is pretty good fun.
