Changin' Times - The Ike White story

On iPlayer atm, story about how White recorded his 1974 debut album, Changin' Times whilst in San Quentin nick for murder.

Stevie Wonder got involved in his release. Add in multiple bigamies, kids galore, name changes, AWOL, working as a porno actor in Hamburg, shacking up with a granny... colourful life old Ike lead.

The album, released earlier this year, is remarkably fantasy too.

100% worth a watch and a listen.

Started series 2 of Das Boot and its not bad. Still too much non naval warfare stuff going on which tends to make it lag a bit. The brilliance of the film was based on the tension and interaction on the U Boat and the crews. The series tries to offer too much other stuff away from that and its a bit less good because of it. The SS officer,Tom Wlaschinka? is one absolute cunt though and plays a great role in it.

She's had me watching something on IPlayer the last few nights. The Secrets She Keeps. Australian drama about an obsessed woman who befriends a pregnant woman then steels her baby. Its actually pretty good.

Plus it has Jessica De Gout in it and she is almost the perfect woman. 7.5/10. Still got an episode to go.

Got this on the planner. Wasn’t sure I fancied it but as I fancy the lovely Jessica I’ll get it watched.

The Wrecking Crew (2008) 9/10.

I realise many on here have seen this music documentary on the LA session musicians who backed hundreds, if not thousands of hit records through the 60s/70s/80s but it was my first viewing of it. A must watch even if you only have a passing interest in these types of things.

She spends the first half of the series heavily pregnant and the second half a mother in distress that her newborn has been pinched yet still manages to look spectacular

Cursed - 1/10. Netflix’s Arthurian fable. Lasted two episodes. It’s rank.

Lasted one. The usual Netflix staples of looking really expensive whilst simultaneously feeling really cheap. Usually because the script is crap and the actors aren't very good. Katherine Langford is appalling, unable to generate any facial expression beyond smug or knowing something you don't. Add in the edgelord version of Merlin and I didn't need to see any more.

If Netflix could make one, just one, solid gold TV show it'll be a miracle. They have so much in production that the quality control must be completely lax.

All very fair commentary. Although the CGI wolfpack that came out of nowhere at the end of episode one looked like they’d wandered in out of Minecraft.

Started the second series of the Sinner. 2 episodes in and its okay. Just feels exactly like the first series they've just changed the woman into a boy and a stabbing into poisoning and the whole there's more to this than this fucker just killing someone so I'm going to spend all my time getting them a reduced sentence. Should be called the Skimmer I will skim your life sentence down to 2 years with good behaviour with my unorthodox detectoring and self flagulation for a childhood trauma yet to be revealed.

I always think no matter how good the CGI if the entire cast is just good looking people it always looks shit. For me any show were everybody looks like a model is pure shite unless you are watching for a Baywatch style lob on.

Yep. Pure Netflix, loads of money but never looks like they've spent it wisely.

Suffers from most crime mystery films/shows where the trail is so labyrinthine that the outcome always feels like a convoluted let-down. I like it but I could actually do without seeing the resolutions.

‘Patriot Act’ with Hasan Minhaj on Netflix. Been catching up on all of these for a while now. Similar kind of format as Last Week Tonight with our boy John Oliver, only more stand-up(ish) and filmed in a better studio with more graphics and shit.

Like John Oliver, he talks about a different topic each week. It’s a cracking little show. It hasn’t overtaken LWT for me yet but his lockdown episodes have definitely been funnier than Oliver’s. I think LWT suffers more from the lack of an audience.

In general. He's been largely terrible in most things I've seen him in.

Wooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!

The only film you'll need to have watched him in is Con Air, he plays more of a support role is a lot of his latter stuff like Mile 22, Deepwater Horizon, Birdbox.
