Marianne. French horror series just appeared on Netflix. One episode in and i'm finding it's quite good, very Stephen King like to the point the main protagonist is a horror writer who goes back to her childhood home on the coast which looks a bit like Maine,  USA.

Now watched 6 episodes of this and it's good, definitely worth checking out.

I am struggling a bit with season 2 of Snowfall as its just not gritty enough. While I'm not bothered about there being no nudity, the fact that they dont show any of it and the swearing is quite mild detracts from the serious nature of the subject matter. FX do this with a few of their shows, some are ok with it not being too grisly but others suffer from that lack of realism.

The Americans have no problem with guns and gun violence either on TV or in real life but saying fuck or showing buttocks results in torrents of complaints.

Money Heist Parts 1-3 - it's a wee bit far-fetched but I enjoyed this immensely. You do find yourself in parts struggling to keep up with the subtitles and what's happening on screen but it doesn't really dim the enjoyment. The actress who plays Tokyo is sex on legs and the inspector is a milf. 8/10

I have been watching it on and off for months. I breezed through series one but I am stuck somewhere in series 2 and not sure if i will ever watch it again. I'd agree with 8/10 for series 1 but couldnt got past 5/10 for series 2,so far.

I'm 5 episodes in and it's class, agree about the inspector, pure milf.

Please expound?

There is a large focus on gun battles when gun incidents in the UK are more sporadic and targeted. Knife fights and gang fights with assorted weapons such as bats and hammers would likely be a fairer reflection of how gang rivalry mostly takes place, which it did also capture to be fair.

Boxed off that "The Boys" last night. A thanks to whoever first mentioned it in here. I enjoyed it. I'm not usually a massive fan of the superhero genre, but this wasn't really your typical superhero angle. A bit darker and seedier, with a few bits of black comedy chucked in. I concur that the dolphin rescue scene was funny. And Billy Butcher is a top notch bad-ass.

A solid 7.5 out of 10. Season 2 is on the way, apparently.

Romanoffs 7.5 / 10

A strange format, an anthology in the mould of, I guess, the Tales of the Unexpected or something like that, but with no or just with subtle twists open to interpretation. Comes across as a bit of a self-indulgent project for Mathew Weiner (of the Mad Men fame, also wrote a lot of the Sopranos towards the end) who creates, directs, writes, produces.

It got not very good reviews but is not that bad if you are into slow TV, I'd say if you are a fan of Weiner's like I am, you won't regret the time you invested in the 8 episodes, if you are not, you are not losing much by passing on it.

It does have that early Amazon Prime feel when they were obviously trying to get the biggest names to work for them just on the strength of reputation rather than a good pitch, so people like Woody Allen, David E. Kelly or Weiner here were selling them old ideas, leftovers from the back of the bottom drawer. It didn't help it was produced by Weinstein bros so doomed on many levels.

Would watch more if they made more.

We got around to watching Killing Eve over the last week or two. The first series was great, as were the first couple of episodes of series two. After that it literally went from the sublime to the ridiculous. I stuck with it but if they were any longer than 8 episodes per series I’d have probably fucked it off halfway through.

The Americans - I ploughed through the first 3 seasons and liked it but found it quite slow but 5 episodes now into season 4 and it's really kicked on.

Plough on... I watched the last episode through the haze of my own tears. My chin trembled so much I eventually had to put the vodka down.

Wow, I love this little program. Brilliantly subtle, brillianttly written and acted, this weeks episode is an absolute doozy.

9/10 Kodi

Forgot about this but might wait for the series to finish as I am watching Snowfall series 3 at the moment. Series 2 improved a lot about half way through and series 3 has begun well also.

Power, series number I have no idea. Absolute garbage. I enjoyed it as it was an ideal brain dead watchable show but the current series has begun unbelievably badly. Randall and Hopkirk did it better. I also never thought I'd wish for the return of 50 cent as an actor.

Said the same thing about 50 Cent. His character was a scary brilliant nasty bastard. Mentioned it a few pages back but Tommy is the only one holding this together and he is up there with the daughter from Taken as the worlds worst actor!

Very funny scene with Tommy and an Uber driver. Not sure if you have got to it yet but I was pissing myself. Tommy the big drug dealer gangster, probably with about 4 guns on him:

"You're only getting 1 star for that ride"

"Fuck you you Eminem looking motherfucker!"

"Carry on and you'll get no stars"

"Fuck you!"

"No fuck you!"

For  years Toni Collette has been  the best weeper in Hollywood, she can turn on the tears like it's nobodies business. In Unbelievable she merely welled up and went glassy eyed once or twice. Brilliant actress.

The little facial expressions. She is proper lairy in this. Perfect.
