The Frozen Dead

French serial killer Netflix thriller. It's well acted and pretty well shot, but the story itself is standard fare, with troubled coppers doing lousy policework, plot holes and lots of "Why didn't they just do x?" moments. It loses an extra point for murdering Hurt, by having it sung by a choir.

5/10

I'm still debating whether I can be arsed watching the 2nd series of this. The first series wasn't bad but it was a bit of a slog. Would be nice if something more happened

When we are dismissing a David Simon drama before the second season has had a chance to gain traction then surely we are living in a golden age

Just had to Google him... I've never seen The Wire or anything else he's done. Though I'm inferring that you think this will unravel itself into something great. I mean, I didn't dislike the first series of this, it was decent and it seem like it was just scene setting, but it didn't leave me thinking that I can't wait for it to come back. I think I'll watch it and if it's shit, blame you.

I've never really enjoyed much of what David Simon has done. Some of it is good, but it's not that enjoyable to me.

This is a fair answer. I enjoyed The Wire but could never really get into The Corner and  I agree with Dim Reaper that The Deuce is good but nothing spectacular. I will watch the second series due to the dearth of superior series that I haven't seen on telly at the moment.

You've got to watch The Wire, man. It’s superb.

If David Simon took minutes from a district council meeting and made it into a mini-series, I'd watch it.

Actually, I already did. The man is a genius.

You mean 'Show Me a Hero?' Pretty weak show in my opinion. I also didn't like Treme. Best thing he did recently in my view was the documentary,The House I Live In.

Well, I watched the first episode of the new series and it's brought back the same feeling I had when I watched the first series... It's well acted and it seems to be doing a good job at recreating the era it's set in but it just seems to be the same people doing similar things over and over. Pimps ordering prostitutes about, prostitutes moping around, Maggie Gyllenhall moping around making porn videos, one of James Franco's characters moping around in a bar moaning about his brother, police doing things that seem irrelevant. I'm starting to think that whatever people see in this is something that I'm not going to ever see.
