In salt water. I don't fucking know, it's to do with currents and electric and shit. He must know what he's talking about, he's worked all over the world doing his thing. He's just been head hunted for a permanent position in Canada. He has told me about it. It was about as much use as talking to a dog about quantum physics.

Haha. Not just me, then?

There's you trying to be helpful, Spy Bee, offering some information you have picked up for the gathered assembly and what thanks do you get? None, I tell you, just some smart arse asking tricky questions

Edit. Not sure why Spy Bee's reply doesnt appear in quotes.

It's nothing to do with the signal it is to do with the battery. I'll ask him what he means... in fact, list your questions and I'll email them to him!

Bloke on the radio the other morning reckoned  the battery life was 30-35 days. Pretty much where we are now, curiously

This mate of mine reckons it would be totally different in fresh water to salt water, but yeah, this is entirely predictable. Signal will be lost soon no doubt.

Salt water is denser than fresh so the sound waves would travel further (denser medium). Won't affect the battery though. Unless someone takes them out, and rubs them on their pants - maybe they'll get another few days out of them.

Convenient!

They've released new data that shows that after flying around the Malaysian Peninsula the plane dropped to an altitude of below 5000ft. That has surely been done to avoid detection by radar.

I bet the pilot was a big fan of Harrier Attack and played it on his simulator...cant help admire the guy for trying it out in real life with a 777
