Interesting; Bolton and Burnley were both convinced that they were playing for the right to play Blackpool ( see https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2022/march/clarets-cup-test-for-reserves/ ). Burnley won 3-0.

The Blackpool Gazette have us playing Blackpool in the semi-final.

This is also confirmed on the Lancashire FA site too.

Me thinks someone at Bolton got a little confused...

He's done well at the 18s level this season since coming in - Got to keep in mind that he only turned 17 in February.

In his limited appearances for the 19s/23s, he's struggled a little with the physical side, but that of course is not uncommon for players his age.

If you're after a comp, then I'd liken him to Jack Grealish stylistically.

Not got a lot of pace, but is very good with the ball at his feet - almost appears quicker on the ball than off it.

Comfortable on the ball and has an eye for little through balls. He has played mainly from the left side this season, but he'd have no problem playing in a central midfield role if needed. I'd certainly like to see him play centrally more often for the remainder of this season.

Like his old man, he's got a little bite about him too, so he's not afraid to put his foot in from time to time.

As with most young attacking players, there's room for improvement on the defensive side of his game, which will come over time, and if he's moved to a central role.

He has been up and trained with the first-team squad this season, so the coaching staff certainly believe he has the potential to make the steps in the future.

Nice. Thanks for the opinion, mate.

The 18s and the 23s are both in action today. Both teams are playing at the Academy, with the 18s on the back pitch against the Mancs, and the 23s on the front pitch against Spurs.

The 18s kick-off at 11:00 - There is live coverage for this, but only on MUTV.

The 23s kick-off at 12:00 - There is no live coverage for this.

The 18s lineup as follows:

Mrozek; Mabaya, Jonas, Miles, Scanlon; Stephenson, Pilling, McConnell; Blair, Cannonier, Clark.

Subs: Hewitson, Davidson, Lucky, Pennington, Giblin.

Great to see Luca Stephenson back from injury.

On the subject of returning from injury, Layton Stewart made a return during the week, captaining an under 19 side to a 2-1 victory over Sporting in the Al Abtal Cup.
