Full time, 3-2.

The late strike from Harry Wilson handed our lads what looked an unlikely 3 points, as Madrid came back from 2 down and were the better side in the second half.

Jordan Rossiter was superb as the second half progressed, and I thought Jerome Sinclair really put a shift in today, too.

I enjoyed the stamina of the side to recover and as you say they did fade but a good finish from a tired side that gave its all, the only disappointment was Wilson one on one did nt put us 3-0, they did have bad luck and would feel worthy of a draw, one of the line, hittin the post and a John Terry moment at the penalty. Please God some luck like this tonight.

Have some good news:

Yesil was also training at Melwood today (with Smith and Williams from what I've seen, obviously making up numbers for some of the players on a rest day). Last start he had was against Swansea in the cup... just saying...

It was a case of missed chances proving costly for Liverpool U18s as they lost 2-1 away at Sunderland on Saturday.

With the U21s in action at Fulham on Sunday, Neil Critchley fielded a young side in the North-East and they played well at times, but just couldn't finish off good openings.

Sergi Canos scored a brilliant consolation goal for the Reds but it was a frustrating day for Critchley's charges.

"We played well, dominated the play but just couldn't score," Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com.

"We played some great football at times and had some big moments to score but it was one of them days in front of goal. They got a lot of players behind the ball and we just couldn't break them down."

Liverpool U18s: Firth (Jackson 30), Lewis (Whelan 55), Travis, Brewitt, Polgar, Phillips, Canos, Ejaria (Maxwell 75), Watts, Marsh, Nicholas.

Under 21's are away at Fulham this afternoon.

No Rossiter, Stewart or Williams in the squad, so I'm expecting them to be in the squad for the League Cup game against Swansea on Tuesday.

I'd certainly start Rossiter against Swansea, with Williams replacing him in the second half, just as happened against Middlesbrough in the previous round.

Is this live on BT as they show some of the U21 league?

Liverpool U21s fell to their second successive defeat as they lost 3-2 to Fulham in a five-goal thriller at Motspur Park on Sunday.

Michael Beale's side went into the game without the likes of Jordan Rossiter and Jordan Williams but German U21 striker Samed Yesil was fit to start while Harry Wilson and Ryan Kent provided amunition down the flanks.

The young Reds started brightly when Daniel Trickett-Smith fired them into a fifth minute lead, but the home side stormed straight back when Tom Richards made it 1-1.

Fulham then turned the game around in the second period when Italy U21 forward Marcello Trotta added two goals to make it 3-1.

Cameron Brannagan then missed a great chance before substitute Jerome Sinclair netted to make it 3-2.

Beale's charges certainly didn't deserve to lose the game and they continued to pour forward in numbers in search of an equaliser.

Sinclair had a late chance in stoppage time but couldn't convert and Fulham held on to take the three points.

Beale's side are back in action next Friday night when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Langtree Park, St Helens, at 7pm GMT.

Liverpool U21s team: Fulton, Randall, Maguire, Cleary, Jones, Lussey, Wilson, Brannagan, Yesil, Trickett-Smith, Kent. Subs: O'Hanlon, Vigouroux, Sinclair, Pelosi.

Reds and Blues share derby spoils

Callum Nicholas was on the mark as Liverpool U18s drew 1-1 with Everton in the mini-derby at the Kirkby Academy on Saturday morning.

In a competitive encounter, Neil Critchley's side opened the scoring through Nicholas, but the Blues deservedly got back on level terms to square the contest.

Andy Firth was the hero for the young Reds when he saved a penalty 10 minutes from time, and in a more positive note for the Academy, winger Sheyi Ojo came off the bench to play the final 20 minutes after returning from injury.  Reflecting on the draw, Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com: "It was a hard-fought game and a draw was probably a fair result. Andy made a great save from the penalty and we had late chances to win it but, overall, the lads did well."

U18s team: Firth, Lewis, Travis, Brewitt (Whelan 60), Polgar, Ejaria, Alexander, Nicholas (Ojo 70), Canos, Marsh, Dhanda.

21's beat Spurs 2-1 on Friday evening. Offal report.

Jordan Rossiter fired the winner as Liverpool U21s got that winning formula back with a deserved 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Langtree Park in St Helens on Friday night.

After being an unused substitute for the first team on Tuesday in the Capital One Cup tie with Swansea City, the 17-year-old was back in the heart of the engine room for Michael Beale's charges.

After three straight defeats, the young Reds produced an excellent performance against a very talented Tottenham side.

Beale was able to call upon the services of Jordan Williams, who was also in the first-team squad again in midweek, while Brad Smith was back in the team following his return from a loan spell at Swindon Town and Kevin Stewart lined up against his former club.

Ugo Ehiogu's side came into the game in a buoyant frame of mind having beaten Chelsea on Monday night and they were eager to restore pride after their 5-0 defeat by Liverpool on this very pitch last season.

The hosts started positively and were desperately unlucky not to score in the opening minute. A superb pass from Williams sent Jerome Sinclair running through on goal, but after the No.9 breezed past the centre-half his curled effort came back off the post.

Tottenham then drove forward and on five minutes Will Miller was unfortunate to see his hit from the edge of the box just clear the top of the bar.

On 12 minutes, confusion in the Tottenham defence from a corner almost led to the opening goal. Goalkeeper Tom Glover flapped at a cross, Dan Cleary hooked the ball back and, with the goal gaping, Harry Wilson missed his kick and the away side breathed a huge sigh of relief.

A minute later Glover showed his qualities as a shot-stopper when he palmed away a superb effort from Ryan Kent over the bar. The same player tried his luck again after 24 minutes when he sent a rasping 25-yard drive just wide.

They say third time can be lucky and that was certainly the case for Kent when he broke the deadlock with a brilliant free-kick on 27 minutes. He dispossessed Dominick Ball and set off on a brilliant run that saw him brought down just outside the box. After picking himself up, the No.10 fired a fine strike beyond the reach of Glover.

Three minutes later Tottenham missed a great chance. The pace of Emmanuel Sonupe took him clear down the right and after pulling the ball back, Miller, who was in a great position, could only slice his effort wide as he lost balance.

The away side began to pile on the pressure and Danny Ward had to be at his best to make a brilliant stop at point-blank range to keep out an effort from Daniel Akindayini.

Williams was having a brilliant match in midfield and his range of passing was a sight to behold. Another defence-splitting through ball put Wilson away and the Welsh international was unlucky to see his dinked shot beat Glover but not the post.

In what was becoming a superb end-to-end encounter, the Reds went close again after 36 minutes when a fierce drive from Rossiter from 25 yards out was well held by Glover.

Tottenham then came back at Liverpool and got the equaliser with a superbly crafted goal. Sonupe's cross from the right found Miller and although his initial cross was blocked, the No.11 wasn't to be denied as he fired home a low drive beyond the reach of Ward.

Ehiogu's charges started the second half strongly and a through ball set Akindayini clean through. Ward charged off his line, the No.9 dribbled past him and as he looked to knock the ball into the net, Cleary appeared from nowhere to divert the ball onto the post and away to safety.

Rossiter then sent Liverpool back into the lead after 52 minutes. Kent was the provider this time as he cut in from the left and pulled a great ball back for Rossiter to slot home right-footed into the net.

Seconds after coming off the bench, Daniel Trickett-Smith came so close to making it 3-1. A fantastic long-range pass from Rossiter picked out the overlapping Stewart down the right, and his cross saw Trickett-Smith's diving header land inches wide.

With Stewart and Lloyd Jones rock-solid figures at the back, Liverpool did well to withstand late Tottenham pressure as Beale's side got back to winning ways.

U21s team: Ward, Stewart, Maguire (Pelosi 61), Cleary (Brannagan 77), Jones, Rossiter, Wilson (Trickett-Smith 61), Williams, Sinclair, Kent, Smith.Unused substitutes: Vigouroux, Randall.

Thanks for the heads up.

No worries. If you don't have access to British Eurosport, I would imagine that there will be a few streams floating around.

The current page for the YCL game on Wiziwig, has just 1 stream announced so far, but that should increase closer to kick off on Tuesday.
