Liverpool 2 Sunderland 0

A lovely finish from Frauendorf after being found by Bobby Clark. Frauendorf was given a little too much room to cut in on his right to curl home after Chambers made a good run down the left to pull the fullback wider to give Melkamu that extra space.

Fulltime - Liverpool 3 Sunderland 0

We stepped it up in the second half and thoroughly deserved the 3 points.

Bobby Clark was excellent today in midfield as was Luca Stephenson. Luke Chambers had a very good game at left back, while all 3 of the lads up top got on the scoresheet.

Fulltime - Man Utd 3 Liverpool 0

The 23s are beaten for the 4th game in a row in Premier League 2.

Doesn't get any easier for them either as they face top of the table Arsenal in their next league fixture.

We've got an inexperienced group at the 23s level this season, so there was always going to be an adjustment period for a number of the lads stepping up from the 18s.

7 of the squad for today's game were regulars for the 18s last season and are making their first steps at the 23s level. (Balagizi, Corness, Morton, Musialowski, Norris, Quansah & Woltman).

Also got to keep in mind that Beck, Bradley and Koumetio are just 18 too, and though they played for the 23s last season, they're still relatively new to the level.

EFL Trophy Under-21s at Bolton (7 p.m., LFCTV) :-

Pitaluga; Gallagher, Wilson, Quansah, Phillips, Ritaccio, Corness, Morton, Bearne, Dixon-Bonner, Woltman.

Subs : Kelly, Mabaya, Koumetio, Cannonier.

Surprised to see Cannonier allowed for us, he was picked to go to Marbella by England and we pulled him out. Amused to see us pick Corness and Mabaya who are serving bans in other competitions for straight red cards. No idea if this slightly-tweaked formation will work any better than the 4-3-3, but at least we are trying.

Halftime - Bolton 1 Liverpool 0

I think we can feel a little unlucky to be a goal behind at the break. We've played some nice football but we're lacking in the final third where the final decision or final pass hasn't quite been there. We haven't done enough to be in front, but we deserve to be level.

Bolton's goal was not long after the substitution of Ritaccio which required a little reshuffle in the midfield, and Corness seemed to switch off a touch and didn't track the overlapping run by the Bolton right-back who got the cross into the box that was headed home.
