Full-time - Leeds 5 Liverpool 2

Despite the scoreline, we were the better side. Leeds were just ruthless and clinical on the break. The red card for Mabaya was certainly the defining turning point in the game.

We really could have been 2 or 3 goals to the good before Leeds opened the scoring, but our finishing let us down.

0-0 half time

They’ve had more of the ball and played slowly enough for us to get back and stop them doing anything with it. We’ve got away with playing two left backs and one central defender again, somehow. We struggle to get wide when we have the ball, and don’t have anyone with the strength to go through the middle. There’s a strong crosswind hampering accurate passing through the air for both teams, and it is likely that goals will come as a result of defensive errors rather than creativity.

Both youth teams are in action tomorrow afternoon.

The 23s travel to the Mancs for a 14:00 kick-off - There's no live coverage of this game.

The 18s meanwhile host Sunderland at The Academy with kick-off at 13:00 - This game will be live on the offal with coverage starting at 12:30.

Then, on Tuesday evening, an under 21s side will travel to the Reebok Stadium to face Bolton in the 2nd group game of the Papa John's Trophy. Kick-off at 19:00 with live coverage on the offal beginning at 18:30.

Team news for the games tomorrow will be posted when available, and I'll update with details of Tuesday evening's game against Bolton once any live coverage has indeed been confirmed on the offal.
