Liverpool 1 City 0

Abdi Sharif wins the ball back high up the pitch, putting Bobby Duncan through on goal, and the ex-City youngster laces an effort through the legs of the visiting keeper to give us the lead in the last minute of normal time. Sharif was absolutely clattered as he won the ball and required a bit of treatment.

Going to about 4-5 minutes of stoppage time.

Match report: U23s edged out by West Brom in PL Cup

It was a frustrating day for Liverpool U23s as they lost 1-0 to West Bromwich Albion in the group stage of the Premier League Cup at The Hawthorns on Sunday, writes Fat Ste.

A penalty in the opening half was enough to seal the win for the home side, Callum Morton keeping his nerve to net from the spot.

U18s forward Fidel O'Rourke came off the bench to make a lively debut at U23 level and came close to an equaliser, but it was not to be for the Reds.

Reflecting on the game, U23s boss Neil Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com: "There were not a lot of chances for both teams, to be honest.

"We lacked quality, invention and urgency, and ultimately struggled to break them down.

"I have no complaints about the penalty and we got caught out with a long ball over the top.

"We need an improvement in the next game."

Liverpool U23s: George, N. Williams, Gallacher (Lewis), Johnston, Juanma, Christie-Davies, Markovic (O'Rourke), Virtue, Millar, Chirivella (Coyle), Jones.

Match report: Glatzel at the double as U18s win at Wolves

Paul Glatzel scored twice as Liverpool U18s produced another superb performance to win 3-0 at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, writes Fat Ste.

The forward, one of several Academy youngsters who trained at Melwood this week, took his tally to nine goals for the season and Elijah Dixon-Bonner was also on the mark with a sweetly-struck left-footed shot from 18 yards out.

Reflecting on the display, U18s boss Barry Lewtas told Liverpoolfc.com: "The lads were excellent, especially in the first half when we scored three really good goals. Paul continued his good form with another two and Elijah scored a great goal with his left foot. We dominated the game and played really well. To be fair to Wolves, they gave it a good go in the second half, but we were always in control. It was a really good morning for us and there were a lot of positives to take out of the game."

Liverpool U18s: Jaros, Hoever, Boyes, R. Williams, Clayton, Clarkson, Dixon-Bonner, Cain (Sharif, 69), Glatzel (O'Rourke, 75), Duncan, Longstaff (Ritaccio, 77).

Liverpool 1 Derby 0

The skipper, Matty Virtue, opens the scoring with a tap in from a yard out. Camaco finds Lewis on the left, who then plays a nice one-two with Ben Woodburn. Lewis then drives to the byline before cutting the ball across for the onrushing Virtue.

Liverpool 2 Derby 2

Christie-Davies with his first goal for the club. Liam Millar does well to work his way down the left. He cuts the ball back to Christie-Davies, and the former Chelsea youngster curls an effort from the left side of the box into the far corner. Good goal.

Liverpool 2 Derby 3

The visitors break forward with numbers and work the ball into the box. We do manage to get to the ball but the attempted clearance bounces back off one of our lads into the path of the Derby man who turns home from close range.
