Half time - Liverpool 1 Man United 0

Been the better side for the majority of the half, though they've got into the game more late in the half.

Some good performances across the pitch. Been impressed with Neco at right back, while Kane, Jones & Woodburn have been good too.

Adekanye has looked lively, but his decision making in the final third has room for improvement.

The youth sides at all levels seem to have lost a lot of games recently. I'm wondering if the various teams' rhythm has been affected by having a lot of players either sent out on loan or moved to another level. Having to get on with it despite the lack of a 'pre-season' to bed in, if you like.

Yep. Happens most seasons around the January window.

The 23s have lost important players like Wilson, Whelan, Virtue & Ejaria as they've gone out on loan.

As you say, the lads coming up from the 18s into the 23s have to get up to speed 'on the fly' at their new level, same for the 16s moving up to replace them in the 18s.

There's also a fair bit of rotation in the 23s with fringe reserve players getting a run out to give them some game time before they move on to pastures new in the summer.

Full time - Liverpool 2 Man United 0

A goal in either half was enough to see us progress to the quarter finals where we will play Man City.

Not the best second half performance I've seen from the lads this season, and we can be thankful that the Mancs did not have their shooting boots on today.

Thought Neco Williams at right back was fantastic all game, with Conor Masterson also coming into his own in the second period.
