I do like a bit of flamenco guitar playing. Very nice that withnail. I am not sure why the cameraman felt the need to film his boot for a short while.

But to be a really awesome guitarist yu gotta be able to do it with the steel strings. Not that the fella above is shite or anything because he is far from it. HE's ace. But these guys below for me are the best out there. Especially Tommy Emanuelle who I had the pleasure of seeing at Pacific Road a few years ago. Amazing stuff.

It was last night and it was amazing, he played the guitar with his teeth and I saw the best bass solo in the history of mankind.

It's weird, you expect musicians to slow down a bit as they get older but I'm sure John Mclaughlin is getting faster.

Julian Bream playing a very difficult technical piece, Sevilla (I posted this in another thread when I heard Jairzinho was moving there!)

Anyway, to my mind Bream is a much better guitarist than John Williams. The latter is technically proficient and of course excellent, but Bream has all that plus much more feeling. A true British musical great of the last hundred years, getting well on in years now...

Here is a duet with both Bream and Williams back in their 70s heyday. They had a certain rivalry and Williams was more well known, but without wanting to sound snobbish about the whole thing, Bream was just better!

Edit - gah! Don't know why it didn't embed. Click the link to listen to two maestros, well worth it!
