We've now moved into the New Year and as we head towards the World Cup, dogging and wife-beating specialist Stan Collymore has kicked off the media campaign to villify Luis Suarez in earnest.

Despite clear evidence of Guzan clipping Suarez, Collymore has called upon opposition fans to put the boot in, singularly ignoring the video evidence and opinions of fellow professionals. He's been bolstered by a few unpleasant racist tweets which have come from dickheads yet to be identified as Liverpool supporters, but that hasn't stopped the ignorant fools who march to Collymore's tune deciding that it's all down to us.

Tell us Stanley, why is it you've been so quick to villify Suarez, and yet we have heard nothing from you when he's been kicked from pillar to post, elbowed, and had his chest stamped on, all unpunished? Where was your fine footballing sense of fair play then?

How it must burn seeing a man from an impovorished background make the most of his talent, tackling adversity head on and meeting it with relish, carving for himself a stable and happy family life, while you squandered your gifts because you were so very mentally weak, and have to scrabble for temporary affection from complete strangers in poorly-lit public car parks.

How big you must feel, backed by a national radio station, safe in the knowledge Suarez will never get a fair right of reply. At least now I can understand how you went about bolstering your self-esteem while hitting women in the early years. Women everywhere should at least be grateful that you are now allowed to bully people and bolster your self -esteem from your lofty radio perch, which has probably saved a few of them being slapped down the years.

What a truly small man you are.

Stan was very vocal(one of very few) on talksport over Hicks and Gillett and I thank him for that, but he's wrong on this and he's hard to listen too as he really loves the sound of his own voice and certainly likes to shout over people.

Its all to do with the world cup game coming up in my opinion and Luis scares the living daylights out of England and that beautiful FA who run our game.

I agree with you that Collymore is wrong to be doing what he is about Suarez.

I don't see why you need to mock his depression and mental illness to make that point.

There are three types of mentalist and one of those can be mocked.

The proper mentalist - These deserve our pity due the fact they are vulnerable and need help.

The Mentalist bastard - These are to be feared and you should not mock them as they are liable to set people on fire.

The Mentalist Cunt - Those who use a mental condition to hide behind, when in fact, they are bad cunts.

Yes of course, it's the depression and mental illness that prevents him from leading the life he does.  You make it sound like he's unfortunate to be in the same boat as Gascoigne or Bruno.

I haven't.  People who hit others weaker than them do it to bolster their self-esteem. I'm suggesting that he sees in Suarez somebody who comes from a difficult background (not unlike himself) but who has made the best of himself in a way Collymore never did. I think his stance is part jealousy and part England.

You don't know how it affects him.  Lots of people are in the public eye yet suffer from depression.

I agree with the main point of the thread.  Suarez gets kicked every week, he has behaved perfectly this season and I thought it was a penalty yesterday.

There are also plenty of reasons to knock Collymore, I just don't think that should be one of them.

I can't believe this fucking nobhead is trying to tar our whole club with this racism bullshit again.

There are morons on twitter racially abusing you? Oh how surprising. There are floods of racist comments every fucking day on twitter, owing to the fact that it is full to the brim with utter fucking imbeciles.

Should it stop? Yes. Does it have fuck all to do with football or LFC? No.

I'm not so sure it is. I think it's just part of the Talk Sport mantra of whipping people up into a frenzy every time there's a contentious issue to talk about. The station know we're on the hate list of almost everyone outside of LFC. He's a more annoying version of Mike Parry but almost every show they do has same sort of presenter. It's all about getting people on the phones. Don't they have to abide by some sort of rules on calls and talk time ?

The thing with Collymore is, I think we expect him to defend the club because of his links to us. In reality though he was one of the first players of the sky era to lead the way in not giving a fuck about anything except himself and money.

It started as soon as the incident happened. The guy following the game on SSN said that Liverpool had a penalty after Guzan was 'adjudged to have brought down Suarez', never even trying to suggest that he had actually brought him down. He carried on insinuating that the incident was controversial, with the clear implication that Suarez had gone down under little to no contact.

Later in the evening I watched the highlights on MOTD and they talked a fair bit about the incident but were in agreement that a penalty was the right call. It wasn't necessary to go into it as much as they did though, and even though they weren't suggesting it was controversial, they still carried on talking about it. Any other player and there wouldn't have been a discussion.

This morning I had 5 Live on in the car, and Mark Chapman said that a Twitter poll found something like 69% believing it was a dive. He also mentioned that it was all over the back pages of the papers, and even made the front page of the Sunday Times. I don't know if any of this is true as I don't read the papers, especially on a Sunday.

Even though Luis did nothing wrong, and the pundits are generally agreed that he did nothing wrong, there is definitely another campaign under way to smear Suarez.

He's a fucking cunt, end of

You’re right but unfortunately no doctor was ever going to look him in the eye and say “My diagnosis, Mr Collymore, is that you’re a cunt”

I’ve known people like him, they behave like a cunt to everyone around them for years then, when they finally start getting pulled up about it, they feel victimised so they get depressed and blame all their problems on that. The root cause of their problem isn’t depression, it’s the fact that the world in general doesn’t like arseholes.

Anyway I’m sure those people abusing him on twitter can just blame their behaviour on depression, it’s always worked for Stan.

Oh, but he's a depressive, mate.

He's allowed to say what he wants and doesn't have to take the responsibility for it, because he's a depressive.

Depressive twat, more like.

He gives genuine depression a bad name.

Would have thought it was obvious if you read the thread.

No, as someone personally familiar with the ailment, I stand by the comment.

And certainly wouldn't neg someone for expressing a strong, if expletively worded, opinion on it.

In fact, I don't neg opinions.

But that might be the difference between you and me.

Apologies for offending your sensibilities.

Indeed.

Just because you're sick, doesn't give you the excuse to act the twat, abuse positions of public influence to talk inflammatory shite, or abrogate responsibility for the shit you spout.

Nor give you immunity to copping flak for it.

That's just fucking life, and the right everyone has of reply.

You should have got an A, Fug.
