And I am envious that they had an all-Scouse back four.  I'd love that at Liverpool.

I'd rather have a back four that can defend properly and help us keep clean sheets. I don't give a fuck where they're from, just that they do the business for us. That is not an unpopular opinion I'm sure.

I don't mind Arsene Wenger. Don't get me wrong, he can act like an absolute helmet at times, but some of the treatment he receives from the media is absolutely disgraceful. Obviously he's hit the skids in recent years, but he deserves far more respect than what he gets for building some fantastic teams who've been a joy to watch, and for waking people up to the sports science side of the game when players in this country were tucking into Mars bars and fish and chips on the way back from away games.

The press' feting of someone like Mourinho over him is pretty much indicative of the malicious, spiteful streak and blinkered short-termism which course through the modern game. It's pretty sad, because ethically and philosophically, the two are poles apart. I mean, why praise a man who has kept a club stable for 15 or so years and is committed to playing good football when you can instead join in with the jibes about him being a 'specialist in failure?' It's pretty sad, really.

I thought that right back that came on for Everton looked really, really good.

It will come as a huge surprise I'm sure, but I really think there's no way we should we be playing Gerrard like we are now, just so we can give him a full game. It's a waste.

I love the player and all he's done for us but I still don't think we owe him a game and that's what it feels like at times. I see him 5 yards behind the opposition when they are attacking us, and honestly if it was any other player I wouldn't stand for it.

I want to see him playing in an attacking role and going full pelt for 25 / 30 mins. He's totally wasted right now, and he's not bringing anything that a faster, younger player could bring to that position.

Put him in an attacking role however, and I class him as one of our most dangerous players who should be looking to score or assist for us in every game. Why we have tried to shoehorn him into his current position has everything to do with respect for a legend and nothing to do with the best thing for the team. I think it's misguided and it's holding us back.

Put him upfront and let a younger more able, more tackleworthy player shield our defence. We are struggling for goals right now. Why have one of your best attackers in a role where he can't attack? Just look at the wonderful free kick he scored the other day. That's what he does best. Not trying to chase down players at least 10 years younger than him and looking every one of his 34 years when he does it.
