The wolf of wall street

I'll order the boxset and check, are there any tits in it? Just to add De Niro was better than him in this boys life he is very underrated in the totsl arsehole role in the same way that Di Caprio perfected the smug role and his ma was fit in it as well.

Ellen Barkin wasn't it?   Fit as fuck in her day alright.

De Caprio is imo hollywoods equivalent of snookers Steven Hendry. Good at his game, face like a smacked arse, take the awards, blockbuster material, keeps the tills rolling.

I always preferred the Alex Higgins,Ray Reardon, Jimmy White type of artist. Less plaudits but performances that will ultimately live longer in the memory.

Yeah, I can see that. I think it was a consequence of establishing that Belfort was an amoral hedonist who didn't believe in anything; there wasn't any dramatic tension, because this guy was always going to give his friends and whoever else he had to. I think that's the crucial dramatic difference between this and Goodfellas; the very first thing we hear Henry say that is being a gangster is his boyhood dream and he believes totally in this thing of ours and we even see him take 10 years, because he really does believe in Omertà, then there's just a point where he reaches his limit. I think the universality of that is why Goodfellas is so many people's favourite movie and it's where - because of the fun, great speeches and wonderful debauchery - falls slightly short. That said, they seemed to know exactly what they were doing and filming a different kind of movie.

Spot on there mate. Despite the trailers I did actually go in expecting some drama/tension, as you probably would with a Scorsese film, but even though it was very much without these things, looking back I think I was wrong to say I was disappointed.

It's an odd one, I still stand by my score and I was saying to my mate on Friday that I don't consider it an 'epic' in the same way I do Goodfellas and other Scorsese fulms, I pretty much see it as a 3 hour, very funny, brilliantly acted bi-omedy.

I dunno if what I've wrote makes any sense, it does when I say it, but writing about what's in my head doesn't always translate well.

Loved every minute of it, three hours flew by. Was unprepared for just how funny the film is, amazing performances from DiCaprio and Jonah Hill channeling Joe Pesci.

The scene with Rob Reiner as Belfort's dad being interrupted by a phone call as he tries to watch The Equalizer is one of the funniest things i've ever seen.

9/10.

Watched it last night, obscenely brilliant I thought. Laughed out loud at so many of the one-liners just brilliant. The acting of course was brilliant as is expected from DiCaprio. SO SO SO much wrong being written about Leo in this thread it's untrue. Just look at the guys films over the last 10 years! Right at the top of the tree.

Watched this last night, seriously fucking loved it. The end dragged a bit but only because I needed and a piss

Some great one liners and scenes.

Funniest part for me was when Donnie (Jonah Hill) is off his face and starts wanting in-front of everyone at a party. Brilliant.

Casino meets Wall Street, minus a charismatic lead actor.

Seriously overrated and seriously looooonnnnggg.

That said, excellent McConaughey cameo...

Pretty much sums the film up for me, through in a touch of national lampoons vacation.

Over rated wank fest, i felt nothing for the characters and it showed nothing about the wider impacts upon the characters victims, but why let them get in the way of a good yarn eh? I got bored by the end, 5/10
