Yes, same number as John Barnes.

I think he has got a chance of climbing into the top 5 spot in our all time record list this season already.

Incredible. I think he has a chance of top 5 too. He's relying on his teammates to put away the countless chances he puts on a plate though.

Imagine Mo got the service that Mo gives?

Was it you who posted a graphic showing the lack of assists he's gotten from his current teammates? Nunez has actually given him a few iirc.

Yes, Diaz especially with just the one, Diaz has played 119 games for Liverpool so far. Assists to other players does not seem to be his thing.

I don't know where these stats come from. Relatively speaking this is a new stat, it didn't exist even when Barnes was playing. The games weren't all on TV and it would seem to be relying completely on someone reading match reports and them having all the required info of every goal.

Its from the fantastic LFCHistory site.

This list includes assists from post-war seasons from 1945/46 onwards. Note that all assists haven't been resolved as reports do not include all potential assists and are dependent on LFChistory.net's interpretation of the phrasing of the reporters at those games before assists started to be officially counted. Our research has been very thorough comparing different sources to determine if an assist should be given. We feel that more than enough issues have been resolved to give a real sense of who are the assist kings of Liverpool FC.

An assist is credited to the goalscorer's teammate who touched it last before the goalscorer whether it was deliberate or not. No assist is given a) if the ball is deflected of an opposition player including keeper to goalscorer, b) ball is saved by keeper or blocked by an opposition player to goalscorer, c) ball rebounds off post/crossbar to goalscorer.

so while it might be the best stats we have, they're likely to be quite inaccurate.

I do wonder if it's just the way the media team are editing the footage this season. But it seems the players are doing an awful lot more gym work than last year.

Could be that tbh, I'd imagine the risk of injury is lower when players are functionally stronger. It just gives you better balance so you don't crumble on the lightest contact. Could be why Jota breaks down so often, he plays with lots of aggression and intensity but he's pretty lightweight.

it would make sense alright, you only have to look at two of the very good players of this generation, Ronaldo and Ibrahimovich. Zlatan played up until he was nearly 40 and Ronaldo is still going. You can see clearly both of them loved the gym work and where absolute physical specimens, so you would imagine being in the best physical shape will help you regarding injuries

We should go with a new strategy to sign bodybuilders. Should get ahead of the curve, plus it'll mean they can just bounce arsenal players off them during set pieces.
