Mohamed Salah

Recommended Posts

I'd avoid him given our record with players bought based on performances for Italian clubs. We just dont seem to make a good match.

I can name about 30 players in recent years who have looked miles better in Serie A than the Premier League and about 2 that haven't. Considering 1 of those 2 is Coutinho we've fared far better than most in this league when it comes to signing players from Italy.

Here's a few opinions on the news from the Roma forum, in translated English.

"They are taking the piss again"

"Just between us, i was the Liverpool, even with all the money in the world, having watched almost every game with Salah, over 30 million would not spend him"

"They would limit the numbers on transfermarkt, should consume 80, but objectively speaking stand to lose a player who at the time did not reach full maturity, misses a deluge of balls per game, and often when matches are decisive hath pooped goal bloody face to face with the goalkeeper"

"If you want to get away, goodbye, and thank you but 40 million with todays prices is a jack ass"

"Here if not 50, Liverpool can go fuck off"

Someone suggests a swap with Sturridge

"Are you serious? A player who makes 5 games a year, with tireless motor scrambleresti"

"But you kidding....Too bad, however, is glass, i'm always liked"

I can't believe we're back in for this guy when we could have signed him years ago if...surprise su-fucking-prise, we had just paid the fucking asking price. Now we will pay more than that and then some because we are run by massive shithouse wankers. We have the vision of a mole with the cunning of a foal.

I'm waiting for the triple fail when we miss out on him this summer and watch Southampton buy him.

Rest is history

I think we signed Coutinho based more on his loan form at Espanyol as he'd been frozen out of the Inter team by their then manager.

Reports trickling in from Egypt mentions that the fee for Salah is now agreed upon between LFC and Roma; 35M GBP. Source: some commentator from BeIN Sport - https://twitter.com/Malkawaleny/status/871347438690246660

Google translated:

"Officially # # Son of my country # Mohammed Salah # for 40 million euros"

"Things are completely over and the terms of the contract have been agreed upon awaiting the official announcement from the Liverpool Club"

Who plays on the right though? Favoured position for both.

Salah you would think as he's left footed.

More to the point who is in the middle converting

Anyone seen how many followers Salah has on Twitter?

Currently 2.27m. Imagine how much that's going to increase when he signs for us?

To put that into perspective, Carra and Phil have 1.04m each.

I'd imagine there are going to be shitloads of shirts sold on the back of the transfer and we're going to gain extra fans, particularly in Egypt.

    • Scrolling through the forum on a phone and your thumb gently brushes on someone’s name and takes you to their profile page. When do you actually want to click on people’s pages here? Almost never. I think the only time I’ve genuinely wanted to click on profiles are if I'm sending a PM or they’re Top Lurkers.
Pisses me off, man. Happens multiple times every day. If I’ve been on your profile be safe in the knowledge that I’ve muttered “fuck sake” and had to press the ‘back’ arrow.
    • Send her the Denmark before it’s too late then.
    • Also, I guess it should be said for avoidance of doubt, I support any BA workers striking to get their pay back to the levels it was. It should be done immediately and automatically as soon as the business allows for it. Just incase anybody is retarded and thinks me talking about getting into government means 'fuck the workers'.
    • So Gnasher, you quoted me in this post, but very little of it - if anything - has anything to do with what I actually said. So either you're making a general point after replying to me or you've misunderstood something I've said. Either way, I'll respond to it, if only to clarify my position.  The first thing I'll say, in response to the above quote is to ask 'what refusal to show support for workers using their democratic right to strike' are you talking about. If it's the one of incident of him saying he doesn't support workers who are balloting for a strike at BA, then fine, but unless I've missed something then David Lammy (as I confirmed over a decade ago on this site, 'I despise') hasn't made any blanket statement about not supporting workers or their right to strike. He did say he didn't support the BA strike. He has said on Ridge's show, that 'it would not be responsible opposition if I suggested [saying] yes to every strike' and 'I'm serious about the business of being in government and the business of being in government is to support negotiation' he said 'every dispute will be different' and went on to list differences. I mean, he isn't refusing to do it because they're workers or that he doesn't support people's right to strike. He just doesn't support this action. That can't be extrapolated out beyond the party not wanting to have front benchers joining picket lines.  Okay, as for your mandatory rush to defend Corbyn, I don't really see how this refutes what I actually said. He has always tried to stand up for the rights of workers, mostly by joining pickets and having photos with strikers and lending his voice to workers. That's all well and good, but it's roughly as useful as 'thoughts and prayers' are from republicans. He was Labour leader and tried to win an election twice. I would prefer somebody in government, who never had a picture with me, never stood never to me at a strike, and never lent me their voice but changes laws or introduced policies to help me than I would somebody to have a picture but I suffer. That should be particularly controversial outside of who it is being said about.  I mean, I can't believe this is in any way in response to anything I've said. I'm aware that strikes happen, I support people's right to strike, and I am fine with politicians supporting them. I'm fine with it right up until the point that it might stop them actually helping them properly. I honestly have the opinion that some people would sooner be out of government but shouting the right stuff than keeping quiet and being in government and changing the people's lives. I'd take Blair's doing something about it something over Corbyn's support but doing nothing any day, it doesn't matter that my politics are closer to Corbyn's than Blair. Real policy beats would-if-I-could every single time.
