He's our jude Bellingham warchest. We'll sort the midfield but won't have anyone to put the ball in the net

The stupid thing is, if we were going to cash in on him, we should have done it this summer.

Next summer we will only get a maximum of 100 million, and that will only be if PSG come in for him to replace Mbappe.

I don't understand why we are allowing the months to tick down on his contract?  We have him, Mane and Firmino out of contract in just over 19 months and don't seem to be doing anything about it?

Why do you think PSG would offer 100m for him? It's not like there's a queue of clubs willing (capable) to pay that, especially outside this league. Personally I would be amazed to see us get that much now Salah has all the power.

As for the contracts, I think it's dead easy. We want to get Salah and right now can't as we've not put a deal in front of him he thinks he deserves. The other 2 I suspect we're willing to let run a bit later, especially as their form until very recently has been poor for some time. But the risk in not signing mane at least becomes greater with every day we fail to resolve the Salah issue.

Also apparently targeting Azpilicueta due to the fact that he comes out of contract at the end of the season and they are targeting free agents due to their financial position.

So in that regard, the link to Mo is completely fantasyland stuff.

Hilarious contrast here from the Beeb gossip

Nothing like trying to get the fans back on side and believing a return to the good old days is under way.

They were interested in Sterling as well. Fuck know how they think they're going to afford Mo after we absolutely rinsed them over Coutinho.

Still, if it focuses minds at the club to get his new contract signed off, Im in.

If everyone and his dog knows about it I suggest the folks at Barca look up the meaning of silently...

If Barcelona were a car they'd be trying to reverse out of motorway toll booths so they wouldn't have to pay the fee.

I'm not sure Mo and his advisors will have any interest in him paying his own wages.

Certainly FSG have tried hard to make this an option...doesnt seem to be working so far

I really hate Barca. Horrible club - the Mancs of Spain. Pep would be the perfect example of their ethics or lack of I should say - giving it the big one about Catalonian independence yet happy to take his wages from lads that aren't exactly big on human rights. Undermining our players when they were top dogs. They thought they were magnificent before they even won a European Cup. Nauseating club. Great city though.

Real are a giant who normally get what they want. They don't pretend to be sound or special. They just exist to win. I don't like them, but give me them any day over Barca.

Don't disagree with either points but Barca make out their some kind of bastion of decency. At least Real don't hide from the fact they are ruthless bastards.

I’ve yet to see a Spanish football club that I like. Real, Barca, Atletico have awful culture on and off the pitch. The Spanish FA really need to do something drastic IMO, as they’ll be losing a lot of fans if it keeps going.

The first thing they need to overhaul is the refereeing. They need to stop rewarding cheats, that’d go along way IMO.

    • I'm having a fucking stinker at the minute. Apologies.   All over the shop.   Handed in my notice at work on Monday.   Work laptop went tits up on Wednesday.   Had to travel to Bracknell for night shifts on Thursday and Friday and everything is shit.   Lee gets my vote - Job done.
    • David with a very good goal to seal Canada's win vs Honduras in WC qualifying tonight.   And Costa Rica have just taken the lead vs. Panama in what's been an excellent match.
    • Yeah, you'd think that's true.   If this happens, it won't take much to talk myself into it, despite my caveats. It's already kind of happening. Porto fans think he's basically the messiah, that's something.
    • John Barnes believes that Yves Bissouma would be the perfect addition to the Liverpool midfield.   While the back four and front three by and large undergo minimal change on a game to game basis, it is the middle part of the pitch which sparks a great deal of debate.   The long-drawn out departure of Gini Wijnaldum last summer left a hole to fill but rather than dip into the transfer market, Jurgen Klopp chose to keep the faith in what he had and give opportunities to some other players in the midfield rotation.   Thiago, Naby Keita, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott have all had opportunities to show their wares.   And while each of them bring a different skill set to the table, because of injuries and Covid infections, they have not been able to nail down a spot on a consistent basis this season.   Klopp has been highly reluctant to break up his midfield core group but with the average age slowly creeping up, Barnes believes it is time to look at a younger option that being the highly rated Brighton star.         Metro via BonusCodeBets reported the club legend as saying:   “From a Liverpool perspective, it would be lovely to Yves Bissouma playing at Anfield.   ‘If you look at the age of Liverpool’s midfielders, a lot of them are aged 30 or older, Yves is young and would be an excellent signing for the club.   Bissouma has certainly sprung to prominence and improved his game under the tutelage of the impressive Graham Potter and has been linked to Liverpool on more than one occasion.   Barnes has no issue if Bissouma is comfortable at his current club but says if he wants to make the step up, he should look beyond Aston Villa and Newcastle who have also been mentioned as possible destinations.     “As to whether Bissouma wants to leave Brighton right now and sign for another team in a relegation dog fight, then that’s up to him.   ‘He must decide what is right for himself, but the quality he possesses at this stage of his career – he should be aiming higher [than Aston Villa or Newcastle].   "Newcastle is a great club, but if you ask people Liverpool or Newcastle, then it’s a no brainer [you’d pick Liverpool].   ‘If you wanted to create a template for the ideal Liverpool central midfielder, Bissouma fits it perfectly.’   The Reds have been linked to Youri Tielemans and Jude Bellingham in recent times but Barnes was adamant that Bissouma is the more natural fit.   “Tielemans is a very good hardworking midfielder, but if you look at the nature of what Liverpool midfielders do, in terms of their physicality and the ability to get up and down the field, that isn’t necessarily what Tielemans does.   “Youri is excellent in possession and is perhaps maybe more Manchester City’s style of player. Yves Bissouma would suit the Liverpool style more than Tielemans would. The same as he would with Jude Bellingham.   ‘All three are excellent players though, Liverpool wouldn’t be doing wrong by signing any of them.”
