Jamie Redknapp made a comment during the game yesterday in which he basically called him a poacher.

I thought that was derisory and that he was far too good in general play last year for that to be true, but I wouldn't be surprised if Klopp turned him into a Cristiano Ronaldo-esque penalty box finisher and we don't go through him as much this year to keep defenders off him in non-dangerous areas.

A poacher is exactly how I see him going forward. A poacher with a very good technique and great close control. Any comparison with Messi (like many people implied last season) is silly I think. He is far more dangerous and useful to have in and around the box. Don't need him to do too much work outside the box.

Poacher is an outdated tactical category. Very few true poachers ala Inzaghi could flourish in modern football without creating defensive problems going the other way. What we are seeing now is a merging of categories as the physical, tactical, finishing and creative demands on players get higher and higher.

I think 'poacher' is derisory, to be honest. He has much, much more in his locker than that. Just because he has probably the best positioning in the league when it comes to getting onto crosses, etc, it doesn't mean that's what he should be defined by.

Hope he won't see it as derisory. He definitely has a lot in his locker but that's the way he was used in a lot of games last season. When we have the ball, let Mane and Bobby (and Shaqiri when he's on) do the playmaking. Salah should just float around finding space or play off the shoulder of the last defender.

Well anyway that's just my 2 cents worth. Lucky I'm not the manager!

Yep.  That opening goal against Roma at Anfield, for instance.

As good a deliberate finish from the edge of the box as you'd see from anyone, anytime, anywhere.

He certainly didn't poach that one.

I don't think Mo would want to jib off his national team. Representing Egypt is obviously a source of pride and motivation for him to become a better player, and having to give that up could have an adverse effect on his motivation overall. The Egyptian FA need to look at their part in the whole fiasco which pre-dates this summer's World Cup, and the officials who have made these antagonistic comments and threats oughed to be booted out of office completely.

The Egyptian FA is an amateurish and corrupt organisation that is sadly too common in that part of the world, filled with people who knew the right people to get the job rather than having any actual competence. They don't know how to accommodate an international football superstar like Mo, they only want to use him to line their own pockets, they don't give a shit about the players. Threaten the pockets of one of these cunts and they turn nasty, hence this veiled threat to Mo's family. What a bunch of utterly detestable crooks.
