Needs a break he's played an incredible number of minutes this season it's only because he's in such good shape that he's even functional but he's still human and he's not looked very sharp since the AFCON, I don't like the fact he's considered undroppable, we've got loads of decent forwards we could have afford to let him have a day off or two.

Not really a shock he looks off it, lad has played so much footy.

His last 5 appearances for Egypt where extra time was possible have all gone to extra time...crazy amount of minutes.

He needs some rest IMHO, problem is when can we/should we??

Today probably would have been the best, he now needs to perform against Benfica and City now. Pressure's on.

There's no rest at this point in the season. It's an admittedly flippant comment, but if he wants to be paid like the best players in the world, he has to play and be good in every game.

This is agreeable.

I think we should fine him £10k whenever he comes inside from the corner of the box.

I thought he played like Messi today.

Messi of this year, that is.

Noticed lots of head shaking from him today, pretty much shackled by average defenders. Personally, after the week he’s had, I’d have been tempted to leave him on until the end of the game rather than sub him for the player who was instrumental in blowing his World Cup dream apart, but if he’s going to be used against Benfica and City then taking him off was understandable.

Can’t disagree he’s been “dulled” since the AFCON tournament and it won’t have helped he went through it again this week, maybe rest him against Benfica and bring him back for the City game?

I agree, this is the critical part of the season where we need everyone firing.

The time to rest him was between the AFCON and now.
