Twitter afire with rumours we’ve written to Egyptian FA saying we won’t release him in the international break, no doubt down to the isolation rules and the games he’d miss.

Hope so, but for it to be effective and quash the threat of FIFA imposed bans, we’d need other clubs to do the same and many will probably calculate that they’ll miss out to a lesser extent than us and instead take what Martin Samuel and co will call the “high ground”.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool will let him travel to Gabon but not Angola due to the differing quarantine restrictions.

It's fairly straight forward stuff, if the government of his employers deem the location unsafe then who are we to argue? It's only a few short months since we didn't travel to Germany for the very same reason.

Doesn't that Athletic article mention a ECA European club association position that no player will be released if they have to quarantine??

Yes.

Strange that they’ve mentioned Salah but nothing on the Brazilians.

Fucking right we won’t. The sacrifices Klopp and Alisson made for this team, sacrifices they were in now way obligated to make you better fucking bet we won’t let players go for pointless international games. As self serving and money grabbing as the ESL proposal was it’s not a patch on FIFA’s corruption and greed but nobody wants to talk about that at Sky Sports.

You just know Liverpool are going to get hammered for this, whilst other clubs say little or nothing.

They will then happily benefit from whatever Liverpool manage to achieve, or absolve themselves from any blame should that be required.

Get where you're coming from, I don't care if we get shit over it, we're in the right.

Countries can't expect to take players from clubs, who pay these players a fortune, and then have them miss 3/4 games while they quarantine. There are 3 breaks before Xmas, they'd all miss around 10 games.

If FIFA are that desperate for the games to go ahead, move them to Europe.

Not even Europe just play games in countries where the players are less likely to catch a deadly illness and also as a benefit they don’t miss club football.

Yep. We’ve apparently said we’d let players go if they haven’t got to quarantine on return.

Shirey, Europe makes the most sense for the South American games. Brazil play Chile, Argentina & Peru. I’d be willing to hazard a guess c.75% of the players involved will be playing in Europe anyway.

I dont think Liverpool will be the only club doing this. Well done the club for standing its ground. It's said it has no problem releasing players where countries arent on the 'red' list.

Why the fuck should any club be penalised by having their players quarantined on their return? FIFA are fucking nuts thinking international football can just ride roughshod over clubs especially now.
