My Company Christmas Do is ace. I’m self employed and employ nobody else.

This year I’m going to go with a ‘watch television and go to bed early theme’

The only downside is that my secret Santa will definitely be a tight cunt with bad taste.

Ours is already booked and the office manager is harrassing me to make my menu choices

One of the advantages of contracting is that I don't get asked in case it flouts IR35 rules.

That and the fact they think I'm a cunt.

I had one over zoom during lockdown. The boss got us all these Harvey Nichols hampers. Only small ones but loads of little bottles of booze. They tried playing some game thing and everyone was just pissed up apart from a few jobsworth gimps who blatantly passed the hampers on as presents.

I got a drink swilled in my face at one years ago from some bird id barely ever spoken to because I was chatting to another bird. Turns out she’d liked me for ages and was gonna tell me that night. Instead she got pissed and threw a drink at me. It got my attention that’s for sure. She came round mine one night about 3 in the morning in pyjamas and heels. I questioned it and she just took the pyjamas off and I never questioned even god again.

Fuck it Remmie I’ll take your spot

The only female attending will be the cunt boss and she is in her 60s. Fill ya boots

People on conference calls ;

1) turning up late so the rest of us have to  make small talk

2) spending too long talking about your cv. Nobody cares

3) not turning on your camera so we all wonder if you’re in your pants

4) not turning on your fucking mike. It’s been years now

5) breathy good byes.

Re 3 or turning your camera on but positioning it so people can see all your books on management and how to be an entrepreneur. We know you don't read them by how you carry on at work, fuck off

I had an unread Proust book on my desk for years. Finally got round to opening it and found somebody had scrawled “pretentious wanker” in marker pen on the inside cover

Claustrophobia and IBS here. Aisle seat, every time. Plane, pub, cinema, stadium.

Mentioned to you before that my guts aren’t great, medication issue, but the thought of getting caught short in a stadium sends shivers down my spine. No man should have to endure those kind of cubicle conditions for a dump.

Straight away you’ve got all sorts to deal with. The toilet is a disgrace, it stinks, the seat is drenched, it’s 50/50 if there’s bog roll or not, if your jeans or shorts go within an inch of the floor they’re getting covered in piss, there’s lads waiting outside the door needing the cubicle for a half time bump.

Absolute nightmare scenario. Genuinely up there with the 35 cents I paid for a public toilet in Turkey that turned out to be a load of holes in the floor.

I've had 'stress dreams' occasionally where I've had to go in a toilet that makes the one in Trainspotting look pristine. When my IBS/ phobia was at its height, I'd always be carrying a load of tissues with me after being caught short in a bog with no roll one time, and I'd sometimes not go somewhere if I knew there were going to be issues (I've missed three games at Anfield because of getting too worried about travel, for instance).

It's a vicious circle as getting stressed about it makes it more likely you'll have an 'episode'. Breaking that train of thought through CBT and using Fybogel was an absolute game changer- the worry is still there from time to time, but it's easily quashed and the Fybogel makes it much less likely to happen too.

Apparently, this isn't a fringe issue and a lot of people are affected by poor provision of public toilets, especially since so many were closed under austerity cost cutting measures. It's a real shame, as it's an absolute blight on people's lives.

Like I've said before there are very successful drugs for the condition but they can't be prescribed in the UK. Probably due to alleged cost but the cost of having people not able to have semi normal lives is well higher.

Do you know what the drugs are called? I think the only thing I ever got offered was Buscopan/ Propranolol, although mine was more mental in nature once I'd cut out foods that I knew were triggers.
