Getting pushed past when you’re in a queue at the airport has always been a small thing that annoys, bur when it’s not going to advantage the person pushing in it annoys me even more.

 

Queueing in a small queue to approach passport control at Berlin airport on our way home, after we’ve all been waiting at the same place for the same announcement of the same flight, so all will definitely be leaving at the same time, why does your ignorant fucking face need to squeeze through to get ahead of me and a dozen others?

I’ve traveled a lot with my job and by far the worse for queue jumping is India. It’s almost the norm there not to queue. Used to drive me insane.

Growing up in a council house in the early 50s, all council houses and the older houses of my relatives had huge scullery type ceramic sinks. A basin was used to save on the amount of hot water needed ( many older places had no running hot water) so I guess the habit has stuck.

Also, water will stay hotter in a plastic bowl than in a stainless sink unit due to the rate of heat transfer.

Vietnam is the same, even with traffic. At railway crossings when the gates are closed, traffic spreads the full width of the road on both sides. When the gates open, the resulting snarl means everyone takes twice as long to get through. Vietnamese and road sense are mutually exclusive terms.
