This win has to put LeBron on the same tier as Jordan.

Naw, Lebron is up there with the greats (definitely top 10 all time and he'll probably finish his career top 5) but Jordan is untouchable. 6 rings and never lost a finals series. Lebron is truly unique, though. There has never been a more complete basketball player and his finals performance was as good as any in league history. If Lebron eventually equals Jordan in championships won, then he'll be in the conversation, but they are such different players that they are hard to compare anyways.

It goes like this, imo

Jordan/LeBron

...

...

...

Everyone else.

LeBron even has a few years left to edge ahead. In terms of sheer greatness, nobody can touch those two.

It's hard to really compare era's but Jordan, Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and Bill Russell are still ahead of Lebron at the moment in terms of career achievements and overall greatness. There is every chance that Lebron surpasses Kareem and Magic by the time his career is over, but he'll always be behind Jordan and Russell, imo.

Disagree on 'most complete ever' magic and wilt both have to be in there, both had similar physical advantages to go with their all-around quality.

Magic had Kareem

Kobe had Shaq

Bird had Parrish

Jordan had Pippen and Dennis...and Phil Jackson.

LeBron had....Kevin Love? Kyrie? You could argue maybe Irving.

He took his hometown team, a place that had not won anyhting since the 1950s in any sport, and orchestrated a comeback never seen in the NBA Finals against a team that won the most games in history.

Because he is still playing his legacy is not yet set but right now he is top in my opinion.

Kyrie came through big in these last few games, big defensive plays on Curry as well some great scoring displays.  Bit harsh to put him on the sideline there.

Just taken a look and he averaged 25.2 points per game with 4.7 assists (ahead of his average and with Lebron running the point for long stretches - because Kyrie is a scorer ultimately) on 47.5% from the field, 44% from 3.  Pretty good over 21 games.

...and Bosh.

I think the current team are probably pretty comparable to Kobe's last couple of title winning sides, dominant all time great star, all-star calibre 2nd option and a solid starting unit (Love/Odom, Thompson/Bynum, Ariza & Artest/Smith & Delly/Fisher) and some hustling role players.  Overcame some great sides on their way through as well.

Hardly a "Big three" to be seen but no-one wins titles on their own, no-one.

Anyway, on a lighter note:

NBA Rumors: Lakers Trade Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, Three First Round Draft Picks For Anthony Davis

At the 2018-19 NBA trade deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers attempted to acquire Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans following his trade request on Jan. 28.

Despite former president of basketball operations Magic Johnson’s ‘godfather’ offer, the Pelicans did not want to trade Davis to his preferred destination and wanted to wait for offers from the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks.

However, after the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery, the Lakers landed the No. 4 pick as the Celtics and Knicks did not fare as well. And once Davis did not change his stance on the trade request, the Pelicans started listening to offers.

Nearly five months later, the Lakers have traded Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, Lonzo Ball, and three first round draft picks to the Pelicans for Davis, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN:

The Pelicans have agreed to a deal to trade Anthony Davis to the Lakers for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks – including the No. 4 overall in 2019 Draft, league sources tell ESPN.

They'd never have agreed to that.

Davis forced NOLA hand by his agent telling Celtic and others he wouldn't resign after next year meaning they'd give up everything for a single year.

Lakers pretty much depleted now too.

They can get a max FA to give them 3 stars but no depth and LeBron aging quick

They've known he wouldn't resign if he went to the Celtic's since he requested the trade earlier in the year.

There was talk the other day of the Pelicans wanting Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kuzma and the 4th pick.  Depends on if they value the other two 1st round picks more than Kuzma, but they certainly could have held out for the above.

Just seen this.

First off, well in Raptors.  Great to see Kawhi stamp his authority on the league, I was hoping for an Eastern champion, just thought it would be Giannis.

Think we've given up too much to be honest.  The package was much better than everything else on offer.  Ingram's health issues has him undervalued, same with Lonzo too.  Kuzma on the other hand is overvalued, and in the only position we're now stacked in...  I would have let it ride to the deadline.

If this goes wrong it'll be about twice as bad as the Nash trade.  Still, FA is strong this year, we could see a good roster put together.  Ironically the guard we could do with trying to pick up at sub-max level would be D'lo… although I think the Nets will max him (as Durant was probably their priority, but I assume he opts in now).

The Pelicans were screwed by Rich Paul. Lonzo has given no indication he will ever be able to hit a jumper, Ingram has a potentially serious health issue and Hart is a role player. They will need to hit a home run with the 4th pick but other than Zion and Ja, the draft has no sure things. Tough going. The Celtics wouldve been the better trade partner. The positive is that the rest of their roster isnt terrible and maybe Lonzo and Ingram need a new environment to flourish.

The Lakers will have AD, Lebron and Kemba probably. Get shooters around that and its definitely a top title contender.
