As soon as it went to the ground it was Woodleys to lose.

He has too much experience to make a mistake to give up a position like that, the best Till could have hoped for was to survive until the end of the round and start again in the next, which to be fair he almost did.

It's just that when you've been taking massive punches and elbows for almost 5 minutes straight it's hard to remember watch out for submissions too.

Still potentially some good fights for him there, he leapfrogged most of the top 10 after beating Thompson so it'll be interesting to see him against some of the others like RDA, Lawler, Usman, or even against Leon Edwards if we're due one in the UK soon.

Well that was rather one sided.

Woodley is one boring prick, but he's a talented bastard when it comes to beating people up. Fair fucks to him.

How annoying was the commentary though?

That knob Cormier calling Woodley "T1" and Joe rogan moaning when the referee restarted the fight from the clinch.

Come on yanks, there's more to that game than hugging, which is fairness Woodley did eventually show.

Roll on October 6th so Mcgregor can shut all those gay porn lovers up one more time.

I get absolutely fed up of people winning a few fights and declaring themselves the toughest fighter in the division or in Till’s case saying he’s he best middleweight and light heavyweight too. I know it’s about self belief and promotion but compared to Woodley he comes across as an idiot. He got humbled and he’s not the first stand up fighter to see his arse as soon as someone with a complete game rolls into town.

The next big one is McGregor and I’ve gone from his biggest supporter to wanting to see him ragdolled.

McGregor has more than proven himself already, though.

He expected Woodley to come out and do his usual plod for the first 2 rounds and got took by surprise.

But to be honest if Woodley is dropping you (as well as he did to not get finished due to strikes) then you can't be expecting to go up 2 divisions and take shots of bigger men. I think he will go to middleweight now regardless, he won't get another shot a Woodley for a while especially after that performance. 2 real shots he landed to Woodley's 50 odd

Hardly a hype train, lads. Come on. He just couldn’t get his work done on the night. Anyone can get caught and dropped. From there, it’s hard to fight off your back against a complete fighter like woodley. He didn’t see the submission coming. Everybody loses fights in MMA, it’s not embarrassing, it doesn’t wipe out everything you’ve done well up to this point, it doesn’t mean his career’s over. He’ll learn from this and come back stronger.

Woodley is as good as it gets in MMA. An all round beast.

Fair points but he has been overhyped, he was lucky to win the Thompson fight. He can come again but his ground defence is obviously a massive weakness. No shame losing to Woodley but although I'm not a massive Till fan I really wanted him to win

I disagree that he was lucky to beat Wonderboy, and even if he was, wonderboy is a world class fighter in his own right. Obviously his jiu jitsu defence isn’t one of his strengths, but he lost this fight on his feet. On another day, if his striking was as sharp and incisive as it can be, he can beat Woodley.

He failed to recognise the set up of the d’arce, but he’d just had his bell rung about 30 times so I don’t know if we can take too much from that. His ground game would’ve been more than tested for 4 years living in Brazil.

MMA is a crazy game. Everybody can lose at any given time.

It'll be interesting to see if Till steps up to Middleweight now as he won't get a rematch for a while.

Yeah, I think he should. There are still some interesting fights at ww but I don’t know if the weight cut is doing him any favours any more. He’ll be a beast at middleweight. Put some muscle on that frame

Middleweight could suit him better particularly his power should increase and punch resistance but his ground game is a major worry for me. He does have good takedown defence though.

Fighters either seem to get named the greatest ever or called out as hype jobs. Ronda Rousey was getting billed as the greatest ever before she got humbled twice. People then called her out as just a great Judoka in a burgeoning division years behind the men’s game. The truth is generally somewhere in the middle.

McGregor has ushered in an era of grandiose self promotion where you’ve got more chance of the big money by acting like a twat. Till had proclaimed himself capable of beating anyone across the three divisions, called himself the greatest fighter in the world and then failed to beat the first person capable of putting him on his arse. That person put him there by cleaning his clock on the feet which was supposed to be where he held the advantage. Of course he was overhyped. He’s proven himself to be a good, relatively entertaining fighter and not much more.

People are excited about him because he’s a world class fighter. He got caught and dropped by one of the best to ever fight in the welterweight division. It happens. He’ll learn from his mistakes and come back stronger. He’s still a world class fighter.

But not the best in three divisions or the greatest of all time then? He got caught by a far better all round fighter then he is.

The worrying aspect of his performance last night is that he did nothing. He spent a round doing fuck all (Fair enough as he was trying to figure Woodley out) but when he did engage he got fucking destroyed.

He's obviously a very talented fighter but it's doubtful he'd beat Covington or Usman based on last night. His next big fight is crucial to see how good he really is.
