Great performances that were overshadowed.

Molby s  and this was just his second half performance in the cup final against the bitters the year we done the double. Rush rightly so gets remembered alot for his two goals and he also put in a tireless display.

It s just that second half and The way Molby controlled everything without breaking stride. I still rate his performance as one of the greatest I have seen by a Liverpool player.

Gerrard in the 3-1 derby at Anfield (late October, 2000). He played right back and I don't think I've seen a better right back ever since. He was subbed late in the game for Carra, and carried his boots in his hands as he left the pitch to a roaring ovation.

Arbeloa marking Messi out of the game on his debut in the Nou Camp. Beating Barca away and the whole Bellamy/Riise golfclub thing overshadowed it.

Suarez's performance in Kuyt's hattrick game against the mancs. Awesome performance and one of the best individual performances I've seen in the red shirt in recent years. Kuyt got the headlines, but Suarez was without doubt the best player on the pitch. That was the game where he really arrived I felt.

can't agree with those selections to be honest, they are the first things I recall when I remember those games!

In general most people will remember both points I highlighted first. Fits in with the criteria Kevin asked for in my opinion.

I cannot fathom how someone would think of that victory at the Nou Camp and Arbeloa be the first thing that springs to mind, to be honest.

Heskey the whole of 2000/2001. No one really talks about how good he was that season cos he's been shit at every club after Liverpool.

Carra at left back the whole of that season too. Unbelievable defensively except for getting turned inside out by Contra in the final.

Relatively recent one, Sturridge's performance off the bench against Chelsea. Came off the bench like a man possessed scored a gem of a goal from a brillant cross from Luis and put the the perfect ball in for luis to equalise. One of the best striking performances I've ever seen he was winning everything, flick were coming off, stepovers galore and unlucky not to score from his first touch where he beat 2 players and smashed the post. Of course it was overshadowed by our dear friend Mr. Suarez deciding to bite Ivanovic and receive a subsequent 10 match ban.

I remember Paul Walsh being brilliant against the Bitters in a league cup game in I 87 at the Pit when Beglin broke his leg... (Or rather Stevens did it for him) and gets overlooked as Rush did what Rush did best.

Also Alan Irvine (what yer mean who?) came on in that game and also looked like he was going to be a world beater.

Perhaps not an overall performance but Coates' first and only goal for Liverpool A  bicycle kick from a central defender isn't something you see everyday and it was set to be replayed for years on end.

Then the reds gave up a 2 goal lead in the final 20 minutes and went down 3-2 to QP-fucking-R.

Heskey was a monster that season. Was at Pride Park to see his hattrick. Not sure what we were feeding him
