Is there any suggestion we are in for him or did someone just make it up so we had a thread with lots of sweary words?

We're not in for him. Some just wanted to immerse themselves in the "what it felt like when we weren't shit".

Then the reductionists started reducing it.

1) Don't think he is playing at the level he was then.

2) He wouldn't suit the way we play now where keeping the ball is important.

Also people keep saying he would be a boss DM. He was never a DM, he's not disciplined to play that role. He's a ball winner, someone who was brilliant at pressing and breaking up play. But he had Alonso alongside him who was the perfect partner for Sissoko as not only would he make up for Sissoko's limiting passing, he would also hold his position and protect the back four when Momo was left to go and rampage the opposition.

Lucas and Gerrard have been brilliant so far this season, they have protected the back four perfectly and they pass the ball quickly forward.

The fact that he isnt good at passing is all the more reason to get him we can afford it with the system.

If we are going to go with a 433 with one of the mid 3 being Coutinho, Id have more confidence where Sissoko available as cover for Lucas and Gerrard than Henderson and Allen. There would be a lot of mobile ball winning required to cover the front 4.

Or - we could spend our scarce resources on a player who, after winning the ball, might actually be able to pass it to one of our own players. :wallbutt:

He's an England Under 21 player in the poorest England side since about 1992,

Surely even you can tell you've got a shit argument when your using Hodgson's opinions to justify your view

Retired. To be honest I thought he had ages ago.

Brilliant for us until he messed his eye up.

He was brilliant at least once afterwards too. He dominated Ballack and the rest of the Chelsea midfield in the 2006 Community Shield, about 6 months after that eye injury.

Gerrard may have scored the magic goal in that FA Cup final but Momo was the man who nearly single-handed kept us in the game after that.

Ballack bottled that game and went off pretending to be injured.

He was sensational that day, was still running round like a lunatic when others couldn’t even walk.
