Alternatives to sky

I finally ran out of goodwill offers from sky after threatening to leave, Im sick of the crap and adverts

 

There was a thread about alternatives to sky involving a hooky box and a card that gave up just about every channel plus all the free to ear stuff

 

Record onto usb hard drive

 

Anyone shed any light on this.

You can build a raspberry pi and hard cable it to the telly, it has bespoke software that allows you to stream pretty much anything.

have a look on ebay think they're called SKYBOX F5...but read the reviews on them as well cos some of the boxes need to be "flashed" (dunno what it means - maybe show it your left nipple???)

We have Freesat which means we don't need to install an aerial. Far fewer channels than Sky but over 90% of what is on the Sky platform is utter shite anyway.

 

I miss Dave (the channel!) and maybe 5 or 6 others but you quickly get used to the choices you have. And it's free.

 

Just make sure you buy a decent box as most of them are pretty crap. I'll say this for Sky - their boxes work well.
