Why does everyone, no matter what occurs, automatically, without pausing to think what they are actually doing, leap to dream up a magic defence that gets the owners/manager out of any scrutiny of criticism?

Who needs evidence, lets package up the best case scenario and put that forth without taking your bias away and seeing through to look at this in the cold light of day, without assumptions.

Thats what happens when a club is mediocre, players like Cadamartery seem like they are better than Owen or Newcastle are a bigger club than us based on X, Y or Z?

Blind deluded 'loyalty'.

Even the echo specialises in it. Still they have adverts to push and need to make you feel good, cos thats whats important nowadays, close your ears and eyes to what is going on, just be happy.

I remember the days we actually were the most knowledgeable fans on the planet, from experience I think City fans are, real city fans not the ones they've attracted lately but its definately not us, we are becoming just a regular club, just regular people, all we need now is a new stadium and the job is complete, Maggy with be sleeping peacefully now.

Folks need to go easy on the salt around here.

We have a keeper. We don't need a 110k\week keeper as second choice.

We have received no offers to buy him and even if we had the keeper in question has one club in mind for a permanenet deal and most likely is waiting for that. Assumptions that we can just sell him to anyone are incorrect. He's also been a loyal servant to us - how about we respect his wishes in return.

Also if something should happen to our number 1 for whatever reason then we have an experienced, playing keeper to recall to take his place (although perhaps not - depends on the deal I guess).

Absolutely nobody that has a problem with this loan deal is suggesting as much.

So what is the problem?

1: That the loan deal is in someway a bad loan deal?

2: That he should have been sold instead?

The problem with 2 is that

a: No one has offered to buy him

b: If someone offers to buy him then Reina is under no obligation to accept, which he won't because he thinks he'll be able to go to Barca in a year.

Or is there something I am missing? Is it that we should keep Mignolet on the bench for a season till Reina goes?

We didnt need to spend £9m on a keeper, but we have, in additon there is 6 weeks of the window left, cited when people talk up the owners 'windows not closed yet etc' but not when talking about this baffling deal.

You know what my first thought is, whther it concerns Reina, Rogers, FSG, whoever, my first thought is WHAT IS BEST FOR THE CLUB?

Not anyone else.

Can anyone give an example from anywhere in the world where a player of his caliber has been loaned out with 6 weeks to go in the window? We wanted 8m for him apparently (paltry figure but that's for another day), why not knock the 5m we're saving on him off the price? Even the biggest mong on here wouldn't argue we could find a buyer at £3m for Pepe Reina. It was only 12 months ago that 20m buyout clauses where the topic of the day.

Kind of makes you wonder why there were no takers at a paltry £8m.

I'm just a bit confused by all this to be honest.

So we sign a new goalkeeper and the assumption (sadly I might add) is that Pepe wants to leave and he has that move to Barcelona lined up. That all makes sense and you might say is a quick decisive move to solve an impending problem.

Then a coupe of weeks later Pepe is off on loan to Napoli?

You're not fucking telling me that Pepe has always wanted to (a) Play in Italy (b) Wanted to leave Liverpool for Napoli?

All I can assume that that whatever move/deal Pepe had lined up has fallen through.

Well yes. He was set to go to Barca. Now he has to wait a year.

The mistake we made, if you can call buying a young promising keeper a mistake, was to buy a young promising keeper on the assumption Pepe was off. No one seemed to complain at the time. After the purchase his move to Barca was...... delayed for a year.

Now everyone complains because unsurprisingly our young promising keeper is to be given the number 1 spot while our previous keeper is loaned out to keep costs low while he waits for his dream transfer next season.

Valdes said he was staying a good month before we bought our new keeper.

Only positive I can find from this is that we can probably call Reina back from loan if Mignolet gets injured or doesn´t perform as expected... or can we ? Don´t tell me Ayre fucked up this also.

Reina talks ongoing between Napoli & #LFC. A loan deal has been agreed but Napoli also exploring the possibility of a permanent transfer.

People change their minds - there has been no change to his contract.

Its elementary risk assessment isn't it? What if he'd changed his mind a week or two before the window closed and Mignolet had already gone to someone else?

Quite rightly we got our first target for replacing Reina who will leave next season. In the meantime we loan him out.

Honestly don't know why people are peeved by this. We have bigger problems than securing a keeper for our future while we loan the old one out.

I reckon Napoli want it to be permanent.

With Reina still holding out hope of playing for Barca next season?

I think the Barcelona issue has been put to bed. They'll sign either Ter Stergen or Courtois to replace Valdes, I think Reina might have been on the list at the start of the summer but has since slipped.

Besides which, the Barcelona management structure is about to change. There's nothing to say that the new coach will want Valdes or Reina.
