Something strange about this deal. Everyone reliable (ish) in the british press, James Pearce, Barrett and even maybe the not so reliable ones in Norcroft and McNulty are all saying there was no problem with the fee whatsoever but the club just weren't allowed to speak to player directly. Only people saying there's an issue with the fee is that Petrosyan fella who seems dodgy as.

Probably the local mafia (or whatever they are called over there) wanting a sizeable cut of any fee plus, retaining an 'interest' in the player's ownership for any subsequent sale.

Im not sure about Germany but our FA \ PL wont allow it (and rightly so) so, the mafiosa say 'we're not talking to you.'

Even if this ownership mess is only partly true I wonder if it's worth the risk to the club. Whole thing reeks of shady dealing and gangsterism.

Some times it's better if you don't get what you want. Maybe this is a chance to just get out of the whole thing and look elsewhere.

Seems like the consensus is that we are willing to meet the asking price but the agent, for whatever reason, is dead set on the player going to Dortmund rather than us. It's a mad situation where the agent can basically dictate to the player what clubs he can talk to.

If he wants to come here, he should fire his agent - the choice is ultimately his.

Compare this with Paulinho, who didn't hesitate to express where he wanted to go. All the player has to do is publicly state his wishes.

Phil McNulty ?@philmcnulty 4h

To answer many questions. Liverpool happy to meet buy-out in Mkhitaryan contract (no lack of financial ambition) but unable to get to player

Phil McNulty ?@philmcnulty 4h

Dortmund deal not done yet so suppose you could say where there's life there's hope - but those involved seem reluctant to talk to Liverpool

Liverpool fans who've had him sign shirts and talked to him in hotels can clearly get to speak to him, but the club can't. Maybe we're going about this the wrong way, and we should send MajesticSuarez in to get the job done.

EDIT: Just seen he's no longer with us, so maybe not.

Süddeutsche Zeitung, probably Germany's best daily newspaper, have now come out with a long article about him and Dortmund, shedding light on his ownership-situation and the criminal cunt that is his agent.

Not gonna post it here as it is in German, but here's the link:

Borussia Dortmund: BVB will Henrik Mkhitaryan holen - Sport - Süddeutsche.de

(note that there is also a second page)

Three oligarchs, a rabid consultant and a mother with influence: In order to bring the Armenian Henrik Mkhitaryan for about 25 million euros to Borussia Dortmund, the representatives of the Association to negotiate with unsavory characters. For the player, the change could be an act of liberation.

Freddie Röckenhaus

As landed on Friday evening at quarter past ten Borussia Dortmund's manager Hans-Joachim Watzke and Michael Zorc at the airport in Paderborn, in the home already enforcement was reported: Dortmund chiefs, then several newspapers and news agency were dpa agree, would of their spontaneous trip an agreement brought to Donetsk / Ukraine: Henrik Mkhitaryan , courted Armenian midfielder director of Shakhtar Donetsk, switch for 25 million euros transfer fee to BVB. But since then mention Watzke and Zorc, because in one of the most audacious transfer in Bundesliga history to play at least three billionaire oligarchs, also the most rabid prevailing opinion Player's agent in the world - and the player's mother.

After all, the message is to vote naked, Watzke and Zorc would have to Donetsk on a transfer fee of 25 million euros agreed. However, Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin should already have told a Russian online service on Saturday, it was agreed to anything yet. Surprisingly, this is not given the last days before the trip the two Donetsk Dortmund.

Palkin, who runs the business for the mighty Shakhtar owner Rinat Akhmetov had, in the past week spread strange details: Dortmund have 23 million euros, or 30 million U.S. dollars offered, but Donetsk demand 30 million - and euros. However, let it be known Palkin cryptic, have Mkhitaryan Although not a regular get-out clause in his current contract until 2015, but he could his "contract unilaterally break" for a penalty in the amount of 30 million U.S. dollars.

If all this seem odd, the need to know a few more backgrounds. Already the end of June had Ruben Hayrapetyan, multi-billionaire and handlebars of a corporate empire, until last year, member of Parliament and by the way President of Armenian Football Federation, in an interview with the Armenian service Armsport stated that the transfer of rights subject to Mkhitaryan only half of Shakhtar Donetsk to each quarter, however, with its previous clubs, Metalurg Donetsk and Pyunik Yerevan. Owner of FC Pyunik is Hayrapetyan of Armenia itself Hayrapetyan is incidentally came last year among other things in the headlines because one of his bodyguards was killed a well-known opposition figures in a public restaurant, and therefore coming up in court.

In the background the wrangling over the tempting fee-million from the impending transfer Mkhitaryans had built some time in Armenia. The 24-year-old had therefore settled in June to Vienna and his club Shakhtar already announced that he will not return and will go to any event in the "West". Apparently had Shakhtar boss Rinat Akhmetov (whose personal fortune Forbes estimated at 16.5 billion euros), Metalurg chief Sergei Taruta (also owner of a post-Soviet industrial conglomerate) and the Armenians Hayrapetyan also a change to the Russian oligarch-led club Anzhi Makhachkala preferred. Anzhi said to have offered 35 million euros for Mkhitaryan already in May.

However, in order to escape the sometimes mafias of Ukrainian, Russian and Armenian clubs, should be Mkhitaryan - as a kind of ultimate weapon - have secured the services of iridescent Italian players consultant Mino Raiola in May 2013. If it is a reputed consultant in the industry, that it is up to every trick, then that Raiola. Currently Raiola, who grew up in Holland and now resides in Monte Carlo care, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mario Balotelli.

Mkhitaryans mother turns

Become rich Raiola is among other things with his client Pavel Nedved. Raiola was a central figure in the great Italian football scandal in 2006, in which the long-standing sponsor of Juventus, Luciano Moggi was uncovered. Intercepted telephone calls between Moggi and Raiola then revealed the depths of the methods of the consultant. In Italian newspapers as Repubblica Raiola is referred to as "one of the most dangerous figures of football".

Since then Raiola is declared persona non grata at Juventus. This could be the reason why Juventus, who was allegedly entered the bidding war to Mkhitaryan in Donetsk in the last days, had no chance. The most important reason why Dortmund can probably still go by rivals such as Liverpool and Tottenham, which is associated with the Borussia Dortmund in Germany and the integrity and security. The change in the West would be an act of liberation.

Mkhitaryans mother, Marina Tashchyan is, ironically, in Armenia's Football Association, the executive director for the national team. They should have made their impact on the association leader Hayrapetyan claim to lay the transfer of her son no further obstacles in the way. Henrik's younger sister Monika is also assistant to the Uefa chief Michel Platini and for that emigrated to Switzerland. Both Henrik (called "Heno") and Monika are around seven years grew up in France, because Mkhitaryans Hamlet's father was a professional at second division AS Valence there. Hamlet Mkhitaryan died there with only 33 years of a brain tumor.

Transfers in the Bundesliga from Lückenbüßern and Kapitalvermehrern

Given the confused situation, with oligarchs and crooks in the game, should Borussia Dortmund chief Watzke and Zorc be proud if they would get really gedeichselt the equally convoluted transfer. It would be probably the most difficult transfer to a German club has ever dared. Several media suggest that Raiola Mkhitaryan and show up no later than Monday for talks with BVB. End open.

So, in short, every shady fucker with rubles in his pockets owns a slice of him, he's got no chance of easily extricating himself from his weird ownership issues and he knows Shakhtar would prefer it that way. So he hires a super agent known for brokering big moves to help and, shock horror, he's a parasite too.

You can see why no one wants to meet Shakhtar's price, buying the rest of his contract and paying the agent's fees must be adding a huge amount to that figure.

You can also see why his agent (allegedly) doesn't want him speaking to us as that would mean all his shady owners would have to forgo their lump of literal flesh.

We should still buy him, though.

Cunting pissed off over this!

He was apparently telling the club he wanted to sign for us - now his agent won't let us speak to him! Walk away and fuck the big nosed cunt off.

Buy a winger, move Coutinho and spend the money on someone like Strootman.

Pffff, let the backwards cunts unravel themselves.

Christ, you'd think the lad was the new Zidane with all this fuss. He's just Georgi Kinkladze.

Russians, Ukranians, Eastern Europeans...they're all balls deep in murky water whenever the chance avails itself, we should be staying well clear of this or I can see us ending up in court within 18 months for one reason or another, be it witness or defendant.
