Suarez: Keep or Sell?

  1. 1. Suarez: Keep or Sell?

    • Keep him; he is nuts but he is world class and we do not sell world class players.
    • Sell him; he is world class but too much of a nuisance to our club. Time to cash in.
    • Not sure if we should sell him or keep him.

I still hope Real (or another non-Prem club) comes in with an acceptable bid, and he goes.

We will never replace the best of him, but we can easily replace the worst by getting someone who isn't constantly causing problems and missing matches due to suspension. It's just too much of a gamble, IMO.

And that's assuming he does what's necessary to actually make it back into the club-house and the line-up.

Kudos to Rodgers and Henry for their reactions to this latest, but I think the best thing for the club is that he goes.

There will be at least another Arsenal bid for him as Wenger hasn't give up on him yet.

Interesting to hear Wenger saying about the clause and it saying if any club bids over £40 million then the player is allowed to speak to the club.

He is pointing out that we haven't allowed him to talk to them and therefore dosent that mean Liverpool in breach of the contract.

wenger is chatting shit then. The clause doesnt say anything about letting the player talk to another club. It just says the club will notify the player of any bids.

wenger can fuck off.

But quite clearly according to everyone at LFC and Gordon Taylor who has seen the contract, it say's nothing of the sort. Arsene Wenger is talking out of his fucking Arse.

I don't think Arsenal will bid again after Henry has spoken personally to the board members.

I wouldn't be surprised if they stick in one more bid. Wenger's copping no end of stick for supposedly going after a player some fans think he knew he had no chance of signing. One more bid to prove they're not easily bullied, then shift attention to other targets.

Breaking news on BBC Sport BBC Sport - Luis Suarez: Liverpool striker urged to accept stay

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes striker Luis Suarez will come to accept that he will not be sold.

Suarez, 26, has been told to train alone after seeking a move away from Anfield throughout the summer.

Arsenal have had two bids rejected for the Uruguayan, with Liverpool owner John W Henry saying it would be "ludicrous" to sell to their rivals.

"There will come a point where he'll recognise the club is not going to sell," Rodgers said.

Suarez has agitated for a switch since the end of last season, admitting in May that it would be "difficult to say no" to a move to Real Madrid when speaking to a Uruguayan radio station.

The only official interest in him thus far has come from Arsenal, however, with their latest offer of a pound over £40m being turned down.

That deal had been expected to trigger a release clause in the contract by the player, with Suarez going on to tell the Guardian and Daily Telegraph he had been promised he could leave Liverpool this summer if they did not qualify for the Champions League.

Both Rodgers and Henry have dismissed that assertion.

Speaking ahead of a friendly against Celtic in Dublin on Saturday, the Liverpool manager again reiterated his club's position that there is "no inclination to sell".

"We're quite calm," Rodgers said. "The club is in control of the situation.

"We've got no inclination to sell and we've been strong on that."

More to follow.

I'm not keen on all this "he is staying comments", he obviously isn't now and it makes us look a bit desperate and we should be saying that he won't be going to Arsenal in any circumstances and will only move abroad when we have our valuation matched

Or even better, deflect Suarez questions and talk about players who do want to play for the club

I've taken a stance all summer that whilst the likely outcome was a departure, the situation was never as clear cut as the media made out.

However now he has been banned from training with the first team and the manager has publicly (and rightly) had a pop at him I can't see any going back now

The only reason he stays now, is no foreign club in the champions league, comes in with a respectable bid.
