I'm outraged about the way media are trying to portray him as ungrateful.

I read the interview in Spanish and he says nothing about wanting to leave Liverpool because he doesn't like the city or the lifestyle.

In fact, in the interview he states that he is happy in Liverpool and that he loves Liverpool, but the media and the negative publicity around him has gone over the limits and this has started to create problems to his family.

I have no doubt that Suarez will leave until the window shuts, but I think it's a disgrace to try and portray him as ungrateful.

The writing was on the wall as soon as he had bitten Invanovic.

There's no doubt in my mind that Suarez new what he was doing when he sunk his teeth in.

20% was wiped of his transfer fee. 10m wiped off instantly. After the way he had departed Ajax, Luis new what he was doing before this mindless act.

During the game in question Rafa was given a well deserved warm welcome home. On the other hand Torres was rightfully geared and hissed at!

Suarez new this mindless act would hasten & clear the path for his departure.

He would now be able to leave without losing the love of his adoring fans.

This is the ugly face of modern day football. You only have to look at the behaviour of other South American footballers playing in the Premier league.

Both Tevez & Mascherano have given 110% on the pitch but when there heads are turned they simply refuse to play in order to get what they want. Luis Suarez is no different.

Ok, edited for the academics.

That was the whole subtle point of the thread!

Well done Neil.

Sadly it looks likely that my 83% chance of staying was a bit optimistic, and we will soon find out that replacing a great player is as difficult as it looks by the suggestions on here.

I getcha.

Some of the replacements suggested on this thread have made me chuckle with their hopeless optimism.

He will leave fo sho if a bid comes in from a top club. Personally I don't care anymore, as long as we get decent money we can rebuild our attack with a few more additions. Coutinho will provide the magic with the likes of Sturridge and new strikers providing the firepower. Damiao maybe? The type of predatory striker we might need.

Suarez will leave because the likes of Real Madrid win league titles and play Champions League football, not because the media give him shit. Wise up, Nightcat.

We won't be able to replace him, but I hope we spend the money wisely. Aspas would have been a good player to compliment our existing attack. We'll still need to buy another attacker if Suarez goes. I really have no idea who, as most of the realistic options pale in comparison.

One day we will sign a top player and one may be two more whilst he is still here, y'know so the team is stronger the player has more faith we are ambitious and we don't suffer too badly when one goes. It seems we only can have one (gerrard aside as he's a fixture and fitting ) then we he leaves pray we get another one, rely on him till he's fed up of our floundering and repeat.

This never ending cycle started when Torres was signed yeah? So, it hasn't really been a long running thing. You can clearly see that we are looking to sign young talent and compliment that with a bit of experience.

I know people are frustrated, but I can see that slowly but surely we are getting our act together. I think people need to have a bit of patience with the new regime, ie, Brendan Rodgers and a more experienced FSG.

MARCA already reported a few days ago that there had been contact between Luis Suárez and Real Madrid.*MARCA can now confirm that a deal to sign the Uruguayan has been struck between both parties. The deal is nothing new. It was reached some weeks ago.*On one hand, there were the player's agents led by Pere Guardiola, Pep's brother and on the other, Florentino Pérez's envoys in these matters, the Money men. It's a done deal.*As far as MARCA knows, the deal - which we must clarify, has not been finalised - would be for four years and would include a significant pay-rise for the player, as per the position he would play in, that of a Real Madrid centre-forward.*Luis Suárez's contract contains a £40m - just under EUR47m - buy-out clause. A price that the Reds are not prepared to lower.*In other words, that is what it is going to cost Real Madrid if it wants to sign 'Lucho' Suárez. Nobody expects Liverpool to lower its asking price by even one euro, because*the English side does not want to part with its player. Obviously,*Suárez wants to play in the Spanish league. Aside from his footballing reasons, he is not having an easy time in the Premier League. He is currently serving a six-match ban following his latest controversy with Ivanovic.

He has a £40m release clause you muppet. He could have served the entire Chelsea back four tea and biscuits instead and it wouldn't have affected his future transfer fee.

Thats wrong and very simplistic again SD, his release clause becomes irrelavant if a bidding war occurs. Its less likely to have as many teams bidding in any such war if they think he's liable to bite people on the pitch.

We dont actually know if the clause exists but you only deal with facts I've heard so must be true.

Does he actually have that clause though?

Every sports journalist in Britain seems to think so, and nobody has claimed otherwise.

What part of "release clause" don't you understand?

A club is contractually bound to accept any offer that meets the release clause. There will be no bidding war and no chance of us getting more than £40m.
