Not allowed to check the score Mr.Angry?

How about supporting your own team and ignore the score in a game that doesnt concern us, soft lad?

That game reminded me of the 4-0 game involving the first team in 2003, when Hyypia was sent off in the first couple of minutes with the ref giving the Mancs a couple of pens. It also reminded me of the 3-0 game in 2008 when Mascherano was sent off for not not adhering to the 'respect the ref' campaign that was to run for the duration of that 90 minutes.

Appalling refereeing, easy penalties and a soft red card all contributed to a performance lacking any semblance of cohesion, intelligence or purpose. It was none of those things before Laa-Laa the Teletubby had his moment in the sun, but after that, the team just completely disintegrated.

That said, every single time I watch our teams below first-team level, the same failings crop up again and again. Not just this year, but in each of the last 3 or 4 years. As the players are still young, you have to expect them to make a few mistakes, and you have to give them the confidence to keep trying things instead of retreating into their shell, but the flip side is that they have to show evidence that they are learning and adapting as they develop.

For some reason, our lot make the same mistakes again and again, and it doesn't look at all clear that the coaches are on top of things and that the players are learning. It is chronic at times. It is all well and good saying that progression through the ranks is more relevant than results, but you can't hope to see players progress when they make the same errors repeatedly game after game while at the same time showing very little winning mentality.

As for the Mancs, it's clear that they are being coached the same undesirable traits at all levels. They have a habit of getting their body between the ball and the opponent and stopping all of a sudden, inviting the inevitable contact. This, along with favourable refereeing, basically stops the opposition from trying to remain competitive because they get penalised for every little contact. It's basically the exact opposite of what Jose Enrique likes to do!

To be fair, the 2 soft pens the ref gave manchester made all the difference. I think we are all agreed those pens wouldnt have been given at any other ground in the country.

Disappointed in coady tonight, he turned his back on that shot for manchester's 3rd like a playground kid. He's got to throw himself in the way of that and get hurt if necessary.

I guess that's the kind of mental toughness we lack. Overall though, we looked a different team without Jonjo tonight. Tonight also showed what a fucking liability sama really is. Im actually quite surprised he didnt get sent off during the game.

Finally, the manc filth attending these games truely are filth. Singing those song at a U21 game? Maybe they were trying to goad us into a munich chant so they could act the 'victim.' Utterly reprehensible but what can one expect from scum?
