Nigel Evans – deputy speaker and Tory MP – arrested on suspicion of rape | UK news | guardian.co.uk

Deputy House of Commons speaker Nigel Evans has been arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault, sources say.

The 55-year-old Conservative MP for Ribble Valley in Lancashire is being questioned about alleged attacks on two men in their 20s.

In a statement, Lancashire police said: "A 55-year-old man from Pendleton in Lancashire has today, Saturday, 4 May 2013, been arrested by Lancashire Constabulary on suspicion of rape and sexual assault.

"The man will be interviewed at a police station in Lancashire during the course of the day. The offences are alleged to have been committed in Pendleton between July 2009 and March 2013."

The alleged victims are understood to be men in their 20s.

The statement added: "We take all allegations of a sexual nature extremely seriously and understand how difficult it can be for victims to have the confidence to come forward.

"As a constabulary, we are committed to investigating sexual offences sensitively but robustly recognising the impact that these types of crimes have on victims.

"We would encourage anyone who has experienced sexual abuse, or who has information about it, to have the confidence to report it to us knowing that we will take it seriously, deal with it sensitively and investigate it thoroughly."

Sounds like he's been genuinely caught to me and he looks like a wrong'un

How's this wet blanket raped lads in their twenties? Surely they could've resisted?
Does pushing back count as resistance?

Buggering tory wimps.

Was listening to 5 Live before. There have already been 3 Tory MP's on the radio banging on about what a lovely chap he is and how he'd never do anything like this. The party machine circling the wagons. Nothing like letting due process take it's course, although they may have a point about how the press knew enough about his impending arrest to have photographers outside his house when it happened.

They're happy enough to feed the press when it suits them.

Whatever the Tories think it doesn't sit well with me. It reminds me of Da Matrix inviting The Echo along when they execute warrants. They want to tell people they've arrested and interviewed someone after the event, fine (although I'd still argue for anonimity in sex cases until guilt is proven). But this? Nah.

I suppose if you sit outside the house of a Tory mp for long enough.....

The tories think the Press don't need stricter controls and regulation.

So fuck them.

Plus the cunts claim that Gay is a 'lifestyle' choice that can be cured with a good dose of Tory family values, therefore all rights for Gays and marginalised groups should be removed and discrimination against them is just 'free speech'.

So, if he is charged and found Guilty this cunt should get three times the normal sentence for being a slimy, hypocritical, self serving, nasty, odious, ugly, Tory fucking pillow biter.
