A Manager for More than one Season - The Way Forward?

Recommended Posts

Have to agree with code on the principal you don't give someone time for times sake. If their doing a shit job then they go. I don't think Rodgers is doing a shit job I don't think he's doing a good job either. I think he warrants another year though our summer signings could influence my opinion going into next season. Anyway I don't trust Ian Ayre to employ anyone he may see as not on his own personal wavelength. Fuck him.

Of course Rodgers is not doing a shit job.

Time may prove that he isn't/wasn't the right man. But that time isn't now as it's far too early to say one way or the other.

Saying that, folk who don't like him will focus on the negatives of his reign so far, and folk who do will focus on the positives. Standard stuff, really.

But he definitely needs more time.

The positives are that we havent really got any worse.

The negatives are that we havent really got any better.

Barring something astonishing, we will have more points than last year and have already scored more goals. And the kit is nicer.

But it is still miles off a points total that means anything and we've already let in as many as last year. And the away kits are worse.

I'd stick. But I'm the sort that sticks on 16 in the casino.

The slightly higher league placing,if achieved, will be balanced out by the cup win and european qualification.

Mind you when i put it that way it actually sounds worse.

I don't think we should have a manager the formation and team selection should be picked online by the fans. Signings should be vetoed the same way and because its my idea I should be given 20 million pounds immediately.

this, our best spell in the past 4 seasons was when we didnt

I dont care if he is German, Dutch, French, English. straight, gay, or lesbo.

All I want is a manager who gets the best out of what we have, doesnt try to model the way we play on something he has seen in the big book of whats hot or not in football, and thinks that winning everything we enter is the way ahead.

Oh, and gets a grip of the lazy twats who turn up for their wages without earning them.

Not too much to ask is it?

It is far too simplistic to compare this season with the last as Dalglish had been in the job 9 months prior to last season starting and so had much more time to lay the groundwork. Combined with the Carroll, Adam, Henderson, Downing policy of refusing to pay any less than twice the market value for players he couldn't get to perform for him and I think for Rodgers to get an increased points tally and make encouraging signings to go alongside getting the best out of said guff is a fairly decent, solid if unspectacular start.

Rodgers has spent nearly £50 million and wasted more than half of it.

We get beaten by teams with better players than us, and teams with better tactical managers than us.

We are likely to finish a few points better off in the league, however after being humiliated in both domestic cups we almost certainly won't be in Europe next season, this despite having our two best players fit and available all season.

We have one victory of note all season.

ONE!!!!

Even mad old Woy managed that in half the time!

Rodgers will only ever cement our place in mid table at best in my opinion.

Rodgers is a bit uninspiring if you like. There is natural suspicion that goes with all the blarney he comes out with as our most successful bosses said as little as possible and let the team do the talking on the pitch.

If there is a chance of him being a success it involves getting rid of Ayre and installing a DoF.Alongside stopping trying to play the way he has seen another 'team du jour' play.

The system has to be dictated by the players you have rather than vice versa.

If he doesnt like the DoF idea then he can go somewhere were he can dictate the terms himself.

The irony here is Rafa wanted more control and now they've given it to somebody much inferior.

I wouldnt be against him getting another season but if he continues to chase british players at inflated prices I'd rather give a budget to somebody else.
