but no job loses, they were loads of small pits and the jobs were transferred to the large pits they became supper (sic) pit.

pit jobs increased under wilson fact

Wrong.

Wilson served as Pm 64- 70, The numbers of mines declined from 483 in 1965 to 292 in 1970.

The number of miners employed fell from 456,000 to 287,000

In his second spell 74-76, the number of mines betwen 1970 and 1975 fell from 292 to 241, the number of miners employed from 287,000 to 247,000.

Obviously three of those four years were Tory controlled, the rate of pit closure and job losses actually slowed.

The apolitical point is that mining under the NCB was inefficient, uncompetitive with other power sources, and more expensive than foreign imports.

Yeah Millwall fans fighting in the stands and Geordies squaring up to a line of police. It was just like the 1980s all over again.

I guess after all that was said during the week football ended up paying her a fitting tribute after all, eh?

Exactly, football as she and her ilk saw it anyway.

Funeral is costing between £6-7M. What a fucking waste of public money. Why is this being made akin to a state funeral? Don't the idiots in charge realise she was hated by much if not most of the country? Outrageous waste of public money, at a time when Cameron is cutting jobs in the public sector he goes and spunks £7M on a fucking funeral for a witch. Ridiculous.

Forgive me if I'm wrong or unfair with the brilliance of neo-Liberal politicians, but isn't a paradox when someone who has spent all his/her life privatising everything, from rain water to energy, transports, pavements, trees, hospitals, lakes, rivers etc.. receiving a wealthy state funded funeral? Especially after enjoying years of outrageously high state funded pension. Shouldn't their last moments align with what they've advocated for all their lives and spent a fraction of what they've earned from the STATE in order to cover their funeral expenses and lead by example?

It's so strange that neo-liberal politicians are so strongly pushing for privatisations and strongly opposed to anything public when they are so pleased to enjoy some outrageous services funded by taxes as privileged "public servants".

Yeah seems well over the top especially given that to a substantial section of the population she is despised. Costs actually look to be well over £10 million given that the Tories are desperately trying to conceal the true costs by excluding security and policing.

Just goes to show that when it comes to the establishment spending public money there clearly isn't a problem.

Privatise her funeral.

Simple.

Two Premier League chairmen called for a minute's silence for Thatcher. (Coincidentally, the same two vainglorious shitehawks who named the club's stadium after themselves.)

Premier League clubs to be reported to HMRC after advertising for unpaid internships - Telegraph

Four Premier League clubs are being reported to HMRC for an act of exploitation so greedy and crass that even the Telegraph thinks it stinks.

Of course, it might just be coincidence that two of those clubs are Wigan and Reading...

See, for themselves neoliberal pro-individualism, free market politicians are communists, they want everybody to contribute and pay for their welfare, their outrageous pensions, bonuses, salaries, funerals.

But for all the rest it's all about taxes, cuts and "you should look after yourself".

Anne Williams has just been on the news and I can't help being struck by the juxtaposition between the two women.

On the one hand, you had what I believe to be the epitome of evil, a woman who used the full weight and power of the government to wreak incredible damage upon the country, treating those that were not with her with scorn, derision and as obstacles that must be ground under her heel. A woman who sought not only to dismantle the country in favour of the interests of the monied, ripping the hearts out of whole areas with no regard to how her actions would impact on communities for generations afterwards, but also employed the police force as her own private army to keep down those that disagreed with her.

Then on the other you had a woman who lost the most precious thing in the world and refused to back down in the face of insurmountable odds when she simply wanted the truth to be told about how her son died. A woman who fought on despite being constantly knocked back and showing the willpower and determination that should be an example to everyone everywhere that no matter the odds you can fight back.

This is a bit of a ramble, sorry, but I'm just incredibly angry at the attempted canonisation of Thatcher by the press while ITN relegate Anne Williams' death behind the retirement of some Scot with a bike.
