People say Miliband is bringing politics into this but in reality his reasons are much more likely to be personal, given both of his parents had to flee their countries to avoid being marched off to concentration camps - his mum in particular having a hard time of it. I would have done the same.

I have no problem with Milliband's response.

It was probably made " easier" by him moving to America anyway, so his involvement with the club would have been much reduced.

"O’Neill represented Northern Ireland as a player and captained them at the 1982 World Cup, but as a Catholic, as well as the outstanding candidate, he will be warmly welcomed by supporters and media alike."

What the clean fuck??

Mourinho couldn't make that squad of bog standard championship players do anything remotely worth while.

Yes, unfortunately you're right on the money. There's a lot of tools like Eamon Dunphy who seem to think that if we were playing positive football we'd be some sort of serious contenders against the biggest teams in the world.

Yes, we'd be better in my opinion, but instead of playing like Stoke we'd simply be "having a go". Messi, Ronaldo, Thiago Silva and Iniesta aren't going to magically drop themselves into our team. If we had an equivalent in the Premier League to aim toward, it'd be Norwich: decent, solid team who play some nice football and try their best, but are at the same time hampered by being a bit shite and just don't have the players to really do much but stay up. Anywhere near the European places? Very unlikely.
