Yes, because it's that easy.

Thats what man united did in response to their trophyless managers abject lowering of expectation.

Stu says fans expectation is the problem, at liverpool fc. Its not stoke fans complaining about pulis, or charlton fans bemoaning curbishley here, never point the finger at the fans as part of any problem least of all at liverpool. Sad but suppose defeatist labour logic is all the rage with any number of sore losers here.

The problem is owners, the problem is a transfer committee that top players, there agents and other clubs have laughed out of town anytime we have tried to sign anyone who isnt some reject or mid table one season wonder out of their depth, chancers, losers and failures are the only ones top players are running a mile alarm bells are ringdingdonging.

Rafa went out and got top players, negotiations under parry and him even with h and g was a breeze compared to the 'look what you could have won' castlist we've pretended everton style to buy.

John henry promised us as owner, we could compete with anyone in the market and yet we get players who are nobodies from nowhere who do nothing. Suarez going for a year we all knew, summer arrived we were hoping to have it already in place to be announced as soon as the window opened unveal our suarez replacement before we sell him plenty options out there, nothing, oh windows about to shut, they must have been smoking some ace weed when the transfer window arrived in the committee room, everyone forgot what they were meeting for ended up talking rubbish falling akip and waking up last minute still stoned all deals done apart from eto and balotelli, "er just have anudda joint wit ian ayre laaa before we pick, ye go ed i rekon dat mario is gonna be boss laa his cars sick kidda, roll anudda joint brendan this seasons gonna be sick itll be sick." Thats the only scenario i picture that in the context of my life that frames the imagination within which i would fit such a, i cant even call it stupid, what a stupider descriptive than stupid?

I think the lesson here is, get a top proven manager in, leave him in charge of transfers, hold accountable for results.

Any other system is as dubious as unicycling the wrong way down the m6, aside from the obvious dangers theres the danger occasionally you occasionally pass a broken down car and assure yourself that could have been you had you not took your trusty unicycle, even as lorries fizz past you beeping.

What the actual fuck?

The thing is dont matter what we think, some think rodgers has his hands tied with transfers and rafa didnt, hmm final say. Think what we want the owners are probably at point of no going back and he will get this summer. Its his job to fight for what is best, so far it looks like divock, danny and james will be joining joe, jordan, simon, brad, mario, iaago, in the changies as we look to finish 2nd.

Hahahaha

If anything the transfer policy has saved him from himself with crap like Dempsey, Caulker, Vorm and Ben Davies wanted. If only he was overruled on the Southampton shite as well or Borini.

If Rodgers was given full control then it could have been an even bigger shambles for the 225 mill. It's a convenient get out for him when hardly any manager at this level handpicks all the players they want and they have to work in a committee. Rodgers has often said he has final say and nobody signs without his approval, so it's no different to anywhere else bar maybe Arsenal with Wenger.

Yeah we've missed out on players but we nearly always have. Ask the likes of Evans and Rafa about players they wanted and couldn't get for whatever reason. 30 million for Willian or £15-20m for Mikhitaryan would hardly have been great signings anyway. Missing out on Sanchez was the real pisser but Wenger went out and put the work in over the summer.

Rafa had Gerrard single handedly win him 2 trophies because he was the best player on the planet at the time.  He signed some great players but his shit on a stick negative tactics didn't utilise them well enough.  Some of these great players he signed didn't actually fucking win anything for us.  If Gerrard hadn't been here Rafa would have won us fuck all.

It's why I understand what Gerrard is saying when he says he wishes he would have met Rodgers earlier in his career.  With a peak Gerrard under Rodgers we would have won the league.  Even Gerrard says it and that tells you enough.

Things are always relative and judging Rodgers time at Liverpool against Rafa's and basing it on trophies is like comparing Gerrard's career at Liverpool to any lesser player from the 80's with a lot more medals than Gerrard.

If you want to compare their careers as a whole then it's obviously a no brainer Rafa has won all sorts but Rodgers is still young.  He will have something comparable when he is older because he's too good a manager not to.

Rodgers has had his tied with transfers for various reason and is competing in a league with more rivals.

In Brendan Rodgers first season Luis Suarez scored 30 goals.

In Brendan Rodgers second season Luis Suarez scored 31 goals.

We won the sum total of fuck all.

In Rafa's first two seasons he won the European cup, and the FA Cup.

Rafa inherited Steven Gerrard and he scored 23 goals from right midfield. Then scored 24 goals playing behind Torres.

Winning player of the year both times.

In short Rafa inherited Gerrard and won stuff.

Rodgers inherited Suarez and won fuck all.

Oh and ten years ago we won the European Cup.

Also Gerrard wanted Alan Curbishley as boss.

Gerrard wanted Roy Hodgson as boss.

Gerrard wanted Robbie Keane.

Joe Cole was as good as Messi according to Gerrard.

So no it tells you fuck all because as great as Gerrard was he still could get all kinds wrong.

Even domestically, you fucking idiot. The league was not harder when Man City were poor, Arsenal were spending fuck all, Man United were playing Alan Smith in central midfield, Chelsea were using Carlton Cole as a squad player and every team below the top 4 barely had an international footballer from a major footballing nation amongst them.

You are mistaking competitiveness for quality.

A simple question. Benitez side in 08/09 vs Rodgers side 13/14.

Who would win?

These clubs have also had 'hits' too, we haven't - although I'll grant you that Coutino and Sturridge are good players, I'd say neither have fixed a problem and been reliable, one in form and one in fitness.

All thes other clubs have made good signings.

The money argument rears its head again and again, the idea that their transfer mistakes are masked by the fact tey can go straight out there again and again, but if you follow that logic then nobody in the Championship would ever sack their manager because they're not dealing with Premier League income.

You look at the context and the resources you have to hand, we are still a big club and we spend vast sums of money, we just don't do it very well - ever.

You were talking about the "pounds to miss" ratio. Well City knock it out of the park on that I'm afraid. They've fucking poured it down the drain left, right and centre.

We've had loads of hits too. That Uruguayan lad we had in particular. Mignolet, Sakho, Can, Henderson, Sturridge, Coutinho, Allen - all very decent business for the money.

This very much boils down to you holding us to a standard that you don't seem to hold other clubs to, and being way harsher on us than them. It's the "We're shit at corners" syndrome where you think you're the only team that hits the front man all the time because you don't watch the shit other people have to put up with. Even Coutinho has to come with a rider! He can't be considered a success! Fucking hell mate, how stingy with the praise is that?
