Very poor first half. From the off we were set up wrongly and completely overrun in midfield, in turn causing the defence problems. We could have been 6 nil down but thankfully Southampton squandered a lot of good chances. They've started to run out of steam and, quite fortunately, we've snatched one back at just the right time.

 

Still a lot of fixing to be done in that dressing room, and Brendan needs to get right what he got wrong in the first half. The defence is all over the place, save Enrique who has played well. Only others who come out of that with any credit are Jones and Coutinho.

 

Finally - closed season can we get a defensive coach in, please?

The scary thing is everyone feared that selection before the game except the manager. The team is bigger than the individual, Rodgers needs to accept that at the moment Allen is at best a squad player. So frustrating when it is the manager that makes such an obviously poor decision.

This is what happens when you give players games to build their confidence rather than picking players on merit, I don't want to single out Allen because he's not the only one at fault but why did he get the start? Why not Henderson who has been twice as good when he's got a shot and why not Carra who has been more solid than Skrtel has looked all season.

They can't be tired we aren't in any other competitions.
