I think Ross Barkely is going to be a giant. I remember seeing comments from Martin Keown I think about him when he was at Everton, saying that he was going to be a simply amazing player in a few years. His physique for a central midfielder is perfect, just a bull with a great shot in either foot.

Wegner is going to get fleeced. £10m for Cabaye? In mid August? Double it, and even then you might still get £5m added to it as 'dickhead tax'.

Not that I care, I hope they DO get him, it doesnt make a blind bit of difference to me. I hope they lose to Fenerbachce, so bad.

I said exactly the same thing before minus the dickhead tax bit, which is brilliant. I'm going to use that as if I came up with it myself over the next few days.

Arsenal trying to get Cabaye should be fun! Ashley will probably drive them mental, especially when it's clear that Arsenal have plenty of cash.

It' so fucking stupid it's hilarious. People go on about how fucking well run they are so much it's backfired in their face massively.

They are in the current big four but don't want to pay big four money. Things will only get worse if they fall out of the big four because they will be so desperate to get back in. We know from experience and they have a got a lot more money knocking round than us. We just had big money sales to fund ours.

When people would say this is the season they will drop out of the top 4 I used to think to myself no they will be fine in the long run but this season I seriously think they are going to struggle. Spurs and ourselves are looking very good and the top 3 will be the top 3. They are in a catch 22. In my opinion if Wenger goes they could go into free fall. If they keep him they will continue to do what they are doing, which after 8 years of no trophies has become not good enough for a lot of their fans.

Wenger is a great manager who has been fucked by the joke clubs winning the lottery. It's made the game laughably unfair and eventually it's going to cost him his job. It's not going to stop me laughing when it happens though.

Cabaye isn't what Arsenal need. They need a striker (two arguably), a right back and a top class defensive midfielder. Cabaye is probably slightly better than the most overrated little Spaniard we know, but they don't have the time to be arsing about upgrading positions that are filled adequately when the arse could be about to fall out of their team.

And a goalie:yes:

It won't be Ashley they'll be dealing with. It'll be Joe Kinnear. Given there has already been complaints that Kinnear has turned up to meetings with agents pissed, this could get entertaining.

Noticed that Kaka and Di Maria were on Madrid's bench last weekend. Obviously, with Bale going there it's even less likely that Di Maria will remain with them.

I very much doubt he'd consider coming to us, seems he's his own biggest fan, but he's definitely a player with qualities that would work in the PL, ie, speed and end product.

But I'm also wondering about Kaka. Age 31, and definitely 3rd in the pecking order for that number 10 position behind Ozil and Modric, it's really about time that he moved on for one last hurrah. Injuries have taken their toll, he's not the talent he once was, but he's still more than good enough to pull strings with plenty of movement around him, and would likely cost less than £10m. I just imagine a Brazilian trio of Coutinho, Lucas and Kaka linking up juuuuust lovely ta.

Its weird with Kaka as although obviously he isn't the player he was at AC Milan the stats (and when I've seen him aswell) suggest that he still delivers the goods when he gets a game. Would still command far too much in wages for us to have a chance.

Weird how many Brazilian attacking players seem to be past their peak by mid to late twenties in recent years, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Adriano, Robinho, Kaka whilst the more defensive ones seem to get better with age like Gilberto Silva, Ze Roberto and Lucio, can see Lucas being one of those too, can only hope Coutinho stays ace and with us for 15 years!

Most of those forwards are playing 1st team football from about 15 years if age, sure that can't help.

It s a very good point you make about the starting age of a lot of the best players being so young and how quite often there a spent force before there 30.

We have seen it first hand with Owen,Fowler(up to a point) Torres .

It also puts into perspective just how special a player Gerrard is when you think of the age he started and in the position he plays. How he is still playing to a level that he is today is pretty staggering.

Giggs is another one but I think the way he plays isn't in the same all action style that Gerrard played/plays.

How about these reported quotes from Agger speaking to Spanish press?

Barcelona are obviously a big club, but I have never thought about leaving Liverpool, unless they want to sell. Everyone at the club are an integral part of my life. I. I have a YNWA tattoo. Frankly I don't mind if we don't finish in the top four, I love the club.

What a fucking legend.

Guardian report that Spurs have agreed terms for Willian - 35 million Euros. Hope it's wide of the mark

That'll be all the Bale money gone then.

Better team than with Bale? Not a chance.

Like I've said before, I dont see the fascination with Willian myself, I think he's overpriced especially when you consider that Anzhi are trying to get rid of players. £30m and they're 'desperate' to sell? Doesn't add up. If he's this good then why is it only us and Spurs in for him? No CL team seems to want to take a punt on him...

I'd rather we kept our money in our pocket until January, the closer we get to September the more of a fleecing we're going to get.

Mkhitaryan was our number 1 target and I saw him for dortmund at the weekend, he was great, I can see why we tried for him and i can see why Dortmund wanted him to replace Gotze and I can see why he chose Dortmund over us. There isnt the same competition for Willian, at a slightly higher fee, and it concerns me a bit.

Arsenal need a creative player and have sacks of cash, where are they? Napoli, PSG, Monaco, Barca, Madrid, Man City, Man United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Juventus, none of them seemingly arsed that Willian is 'available' for £30m.

I do agree that we need someone else in the wide areas, someone of real quality, but £30m on this lad seems excessive in the extreme, and also seems somewhat of a gamble considering his age and the lack of impact he's had in his career to date. Do you remember Douglas Costa, supposed to be the new Ronaldinho? Ten a penny in Brazil, there's two or three new 'superstars' coming out of Brazil each year, they seldom do anything of note once they leave Brazil and get comfortable in Europe.

We've missed a lot of names this Summer, Quintero went to Porto, that was the person we should have offered big money for. Scored 60 seconds into his debut as well, brilliant goal. I want to know where the fuck were our scouting team when that lad signed for £5m.

Loads of quality players out there and I think we would be far stronger with Turan and Papa than just getting in Willian. Now Willian might turn out to be a star but he is 25 and somewhat unproven and for £30-35 million I think it was a huge gamble for us.

Just need to make it count before the window closes.

I wouldn't disagree mate, but I now have no faith that our club could conclude any of these deals.

I mean, Turan was pictured in a Liverpool shirt and it's widely known that he's a fan, even if he came out and said that he'd crawl over broken glass to play for us for free, I would still doubt we could wrap it up before deadline day.
