If Chelsea are lining up in a 4-2-3-1, for the three positions behind the striker they have:

Hazard

Mata

Oscar

Willian

Schurrle

de Bruyne

Moses

Marin (loaned out)

Surely one of those guys will want more minutes? 10m bid for Moses? He plays wide and scores goals.

been noises all summer that Mourinho doesn't rate Torres and Ba, wouldn't surprise me if they join the false 9 fad

Its not even a case of 3 from the selection. It is Hazard and 2 others from the list which makes it more bizarre.

The signing of Schurrle is just puzzling, to spend near £20m on a player that you neither need or probably even want that much, just shows how much they dont care about how much they spend or these bullshit FFP rules.

From the Express

LIVERPOOL are poised to make a late bid for Fiorentina's wantaway winger Adem Ljajic, who has been hotly tipped to join AC Milan.

According to reports in Italy Liverpool are the latest club to express an interest in Ljajic who has also been linked with a move to Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Galatasaray this summer.

Ljajic has been at loggerheads with Fiorentina this summer over his refusal to sign a new contract at the club and AC Milan had hoped to capitalise after already having two bids for the player rejected this summer.

The Serbian is set to meet La Viola officials for showdown talks this afternoon and if he still insists he wants to move, the Florence club will be forced to consider letting him leave.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia last night, Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle said: "Ljajic? I cannot give any answers right now, but there are several different options available."

And it now seems that Liverpool have emerged as one of those options with Della Valle admitting there is now little chance of the player being persuaded to stay.

He added: "He could still stay at Fiorentina, though there's not much chance of that happening. Next week we will make a decision, so give us a few more days.

"Personally I would like to keep him, of course, but one has to understand the player's intentions and the atmosphere."

Former Manchester United player Ljajic was in exceptional form in Serie A last term, scoring 11 goals in 28 appearances

Don't think he ever actually joined Scum despite what that article says, think they agreed deals for him and Tosic at same time, Tosic went and turned out shit and Ljajic deal was cancelled for whatever reason

Not seen him play much but from what I have he is a very good dribbler and more of a creative player than a goalscorer, never really scored many goals til last season where he had a 1 in 3 tally

So we missed out. Where is the alternative target then?

What is FSG waiting for? Are they waiting for the Chelsea-Willian deal to complete so Spurs can turn to our next target and then provide FSG with another excuse for not signing anybody?

I think the word is reeling, we are reeling and we need more time to reel before we can make our next move, its estimated we'll be reeling until about 3.15pm next wednesday. Then we can start to think about making some tentative moves, enquiries, after which we have only a few days left to get in there and brief journos, hopefully, if that goes well, should basically be ready to bid lowball for someone somewhere between five minutes to and five minutes after the window closes. Which is dependant on how long the letter takes to type and you know how the mail is in America, it could take upto a month to reach the club.

It's funny how FSG won't think Luis is overpriced if he sells for around 55mil. Wonder what they'd say if it was the other way around and Rodgers wanted to buy him after making enough sales to spend like that?

It's a crappy excuse that's wearing thin quickly. Like people have already said, the manager should be able to spend on what he likes with the money he raises + the set amount of cash that FSG say is available from the start of the window. Nobody should be interfering with that.

Have to say, I'm a little disappointed with FSG. They'll demand CL football from Brendan and his team but, they're unwilling to give him the funds to get us there. I think they seem to think just because we managed to bring in Coutinho in for 8.5 million, that there are plenty of other players out there with that sort of quality available for those sort of prices. Well FSG, there aren't. Coutinho was very much the exception not the rule and if you don't want to cough up the necessary funds, don't be putting unwanted pressure on the manager or the squad if and when we don't make top four.

Why haven't we put in a bid for Lamela yet just to screw with the spurs a bit?

Exactly. Even if we can't get him, drive their bid up. Fuck them.

John Henry said he EXPECTS big things this season and seeing as FSG don't seem to think winning trophies is good enough. One has to think he expects us to finish top four.

If he doesn't back the manager he can carry on thinking the cunt.

With one arm tied behind his back.

FSG aren't doing Rodgers, or themselves, any favours here.

10 days to sort it out.
