That would make more sense. £200k a week seems about right.

If the sum of money really is €150M then I would do that deal as the player wants off. Obviously it has to be guaranteed money, or weighted in such a way that only a small fraction is with add ons, and even then they have to be sensible add ons. And the money has to be paid on a schedule to suit LFC so we can do something useful with it.

VVD and Lemar and we all move on.

Jesus, who saw this coming. It's almost as though there's only four clubs in World football with any chance of building a squad and winning anything and they all just happen to be the ones with the most money.

How long before last day "Grand Slam Sundays" (woooh! Jim White etc)  revolve around Europa qualification?

It's all really patronising shit this gig, utterly futile.

Liverpool will go in for Monaco's £90m-rated Thomas Lemar in January, as they attempt to bolster their Champions League chances, and beat Arsenal to the French international's signature

Jürgen Klopp has a longstanding interest in the 22-year-old forward, and the belief at Anfield is that his first choice is Liverpool, even though Arsenal came close to signing him in August.

Arsene Wenger was looking to sign an attacker as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez, but the deal fell down, partly due to Lemar's desire to play Champions League football.

Liverpool could be in a broadly similar situation as they anticipate Barcelona coming back for Philippe Coutinho, although there is more to their interest in Lemar than that.

While the club do not want to be in a situation where any sale leaves them short of options, Lemar is targeted as someone to give Klopp even more attacking variety and create what may well be one of the fastest attacking line-ups in the world.

Barcelona still want Coutinho but since they also plan to sign Griezmann through his £100m release clause, they have become reticent about the type of fee that purchasing the Brazilian would require, with Liverpool so far insisting that even an offer of £120m would not convince them to sell.

It would be nice if he gave us a full season on form and injury free. It would also be nice if he lead us to a trophy.

Sulking and faking injury was a bad start but he has really turned it on since.

Win us the cl and then fuck off to barca and join those rats.

He could be one of the greats here but it wont happen

Spanish expert Guillem Balague says there's a belief inside Barcelona that Liverpool will not cave into selling Philippe Coutinho next month.

Indeed, Balague claims there's also a feeling inside Coutinho's camp that the Reds will not budge.

He told Sky Sports: “Liverpool don't want to sell Coutinho. That's where they stand right now, so Barcelona are not optimistic about the possibility of Coutinho going there.

"Obviously they will try and they want to make an offer in January, but even Coutinho's entourage are thinking it probably won't happen, because Liverpool are saying the same as what they said in the summer: 'We are not interested in selling'.

"Barcelona want Greizmann, no doubt about it. They are willing to pay the 100m euros that he will cost from the 1st of June.

"They have met his family, even his sister, who looks after his financial affairs, which is why Atletico Madrid have gone to FIFA and said that this is not supposed to happen.

"Barcelona have got Griezmann as number one target, at the same level of Coutinho, but I don't think they can get both players."

I, for one, feel enlightened.
