We made one statement last year and the player is not for sale and that is the statement the ownership made," Moore told Sky Sports News.

How is that refusing to confirm he'll be here in January. It seems a fairly unequivocal 'we've made a statement - he's not for sale, and that's it.' Sky are just making it up.

I'm no FSG fan but this seems like bollocks.

Moore has said he has no involvement in player contracts, retentions or sales. He is the wrong man to ask. All this stuff about Coutinho is dredged up again partly because the January window is approaching but mainly because Liverpool are playing well, snotting sides back up to 4th in the league and advancing to the CL knock out stage. Be nice to take them upwards scousers down a peg or two before they get started. Who would have thought it.

The Coutinho stories have never stopped. They've never stopped because Coutinho has never tried to stop them. It's not some big conspiracy, it's the lad wants to go, barca want to buy him and a window is approaching, so of course the talk is more regular. Klopp and moores have both had the chance to say the clubs position has not changed and they've both offered less than categoric answers.

I’d guess Barca want him in January because the way it’s going his price will just sky rocket. This time last year they’d have got him for what £80m max? Now we’re looking at £120m just to start negotiations also they have no idea how the market will look next summer, if another crazy Neymar like transfer happens then it could go even more bonkers, same scenario as us with Van Dijk. Only way Coutinho leaves in January is if Barca make a ridiculous offer and we replace him with Van Dijk, Keita and another top signing and even then I’d be reluctant because of how well we’re doing it could derail our season hugely.

Fuck Van Dijk off. He's worth about £30m even in this inflated market.

Just sign a centre back that can run and isn't a complete idiot, they don't need to be Baresi.

They need to be top class, at least as good or better than what the other top clubs in England have. And with the potential to be as good as Hummels, Varane and Chiellini. That’s what we should be aiming for, improving upon Klavan and Lovren isn’t a very ambitious approach.

Not saying Van Dijk is the answer, I’m sure there are cheaper options available that are at least as good.

Is right.

He's going - the only question is when.

He'd be damn hard to get out of retirement. Would still be better than anyone we have now.

Why is this guy getting rested so often when he's missed half of the season already and is going to fuck off at the end of the year (or January) anyway?

He got injured in the CL midweek... Hasn't trained since Wednesday.  If Everton hadn't scored he probably wouldn't have came on.
